To think tesco are wrong

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:20

Popped to tesco last night, needed some bits for today, anyway we went to queue, but no one was on the normal tils just the self serve + basket tills, we were standing there for 20 mins the queue was half way down the shop. The then decide to get some tils open, this was just before 10, but instead of letting the ppl at the front get served all the ppl at the back got served first, how the hell does that work. I was so angry

Think you just have to be a bit more on the ball and keep your eyes peeled for any staff who look like they might be opening a new till point and then catch their eye and get in there.
Annoying for you but bit of every man for himself really.

SilveryMoon · 16/02/2010 15:24

Tesco isn't wrong, the people wo rushed to the opening till could have shown a bit more care for the people that had been waiting, but tbh, I'd have rushed in myself and it'd be tough for whoever wasn't quick enough

KurriKurri · 16/02/2010 15:25

YANBU , it breaks all the unwritten laws of queueing, which everyone should instinctively know. Would make me too.

ConnorTraceptive · 16/02/2010 15:25

Tesco are just wrong full stop. I don't go in there much these days but if I do rest assured they'll do something to piss me off

PeedOffWithNits · 16/02/2010 15:27

LOL at Kurri's "laws of queueing" how very British LOL

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:28

Exactly. I just found it ignorant. + to top it off this poor woman behind had her trolley full to the brim, which she had to take through the basket aisle, cos none of the ignorant gits at the back would move

helenium · 16/02/2010 15:30

Tesco used to pride themselves on the 'two in a queue and we open another till until they are all open' I am sure?

Or was that another supermarket

Pikelit · 16/02/2010 15:30

I can't comment on any topic in which the word "people" is abbreviated.

I've been in Sainsbury's when it was like this. Shortly after they converted the basket tills to self-serve. I asked someone to hold my place in the queue and went to find an assistant to ask them to open more check-outs. Luckily everyone was quite polite and being very British about 'no, you were before me'.

Think my conclusion is shop in Sainsbos or Waitrose!

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:32

And i might like to add that if they were gonna open any tills, it should have been the first tills, then we would have been there first. I just thought a bit of common sense wouldnt hurt. Loads of ppl were complaining + the stupid woman behind the till says ''well get us some more staff then'', thats funny i saw loads of staff walking about.

life is too short to sweat about this stuff.

WeddingDaze · 16/02/2010 15:33

pikelit - yet you did anyway

OP That is just one of many reasons why i hate Tescos and supermarkets in general, visiting one is guaranteed to raise the blood pressure.

Helenium- yes that was there policy, thats what my hubby said to the staff. But we didnt get an answer to that. + if anyone thinks bout using their car insurance steer well clear

JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/02/2010 15:40

What southeastastra said.

YABU to use txt spk though.

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:40

I am going to go back to sainsburys. And pikelit the reason i abbreviated it was because i havent got my computer at the moment, i am on my phone, and sometimes its easier to shorten things, so thanks for making me type such a long message, trying sincerely not to make any mistakes. My fingers now hurt.

OP posts:
Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:42

JAMM - isnt txt spk well text speak

OP posts:
JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/02/2010 15:45

That's right. I was being helpful. Unlike Pikelit who is obviously just being a nasty itch making you type out a big long message. Honestly Pikelit. Who do you think you are?

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 16/02/2010 15:46

No one made you type it put TMn1.

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2010 15:49

Lets just clear this up, did i use any other word in all of what i said except ppl, that was abbreviated. It was a bit of a petty thing to mention

DuelingFanjo · 16/02/2010 15:59

Must have been a week for it. I went to Tesco last night and the queues were awful. Onstead of just jumping on the tills and sorting it out the 'supervisors' were on their littel phones making panicky calls! Then I dropped my clubcard down the side of the till only to be told by the very slow child who was serving 'oh, that happens all the time - I can't do nuffink about it'!

grrrrr

JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/02/2010 16:01

Don't take offence Tmn1. Are you new? If so welcome

This is AIBU which is gloves off sorta place and can be a shock if you've not started a thread before.

And you did use a couple of others in your posts but don't worry. We just like things done properly is all

displayuntilbestbefore · 16/02/2010 16:12

I've seen OP before, don't think she's new...

usualsuspect · 16/02/2010 16:17

It happens all the time.. just be a bit quicker next time... and please don't refer to checkout operators as stupid ..
