To think that Ugg boots are hidiously overpriced?

I do like Ugg boots. They look so warm and cosy and I like the fact that they are made of real sheepskin instead of fake stuff but £199! Really?

Are they worth it? Whenever I see someone wear them I think you spent £199 on a pair of boots not wow- you look lovely and cosy too. So ugg wearers- are they worth the money?

YANBU to think that Ugg boots are hideous.

Oh that's not waht you asked

Morloth · 12/02/2010 20:00

As an Australian I am so very proud that Ugg has managed to export this look and charge what they do.

Uggs are for bogans and are completely feral.

Indoor/slipper wear only (maybe putting the bins out/getting the mail/buying the newspaper).

The marketing department has done an amazing job.

busterk · 12/02/2010 20:00

I love mine. I wear them all the time, with my leggings and my jeans so i have def got my money's worth.

LetThereBeRock · 12/02/2010 20:01

If they were £9:99 they'd still be overpriced. They're hideous.

SayHitIsntSo · 12/02/2010 20:02

LOL Batteryhuman - well, they are called UGG for a reason (short for UGG-ly )

threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:02

I agree. When I see people out with Uggs on, I think....hmmm... THAT wold get a different reaction back in Oz!!!

poshsinglemum · 12/02/2010 20:02

I can't spell hideous -sorry!

I love mine, they're on they're 5th year now so pretty good going. I hated them when they first came out, then the toastiness changed my mind.

BUT: I would never pay full high street prices though, I paid about £60 inc delivery for mine from NZ.

Morloth · 12/02/2010 20:04

They are so common around here, I can't help a little snigger and wonder if every girl I see wearing them is named Shazza.

scottishmummy · 12/02/2010 20:04

maybe you can polish a turd and sell ugg boots to stylistically challenged masses

threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:05

Who dates Bazza, and goes for a shag on the back of a ute on the way to the barn dance...

threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:06

..whilst shooting a few 'roos dressed in his wifebeater blue tank top and stubbie shorts with a pack of winnie blues hanging out hs shoulder strap...not to mention the thongs.. (cos Shazza is wearing the uggs)

Morloth · 12/02/2010 20:06

Nah, surely a Trev? You know you are homesick when you start missing Holden Utes, in that delightful burnt orange colour they all seem to love.

MrsC2010 · 12/02/2010 20:06

Hmmm...judgemental?!

poshsinglemum · 12/02/2010 20:07

Lots of yummy mummies at my baby groups wear them.

Round here they mean-oh look how much money I have to spend on looking yummy (ish)!

MrsC2010 - Where's that website?

I don't mind spending £60 on warm feet. i don't mind the look and as I am not from oz I don't associate them with bogans.

Is a bogan a chav?

OP posts:
threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:07

ANd he's got a few flanny shirts in the back to keep them warm later on hie they go possum hunting..

Morloth · 12/02/2010 20:08

Oh god, people who keep their fags folded into the sleeve of their shirts!

Pozza, are these really the people you want to emulate?

poshsinglemum · 12/02/2010 20:08

I am a wanabee yummy mummy/bogan/chav!

OP posts:
threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:08

Nah, not Trev, he's don the billabong having a brew with the sheila from down the local.

rastababi · 12/02/2010 20:08

YANBU, I don't particularly like them, but TBH I can't tell the difference between the £200 Uggs Boots and £14.99 replicas. Defies the point of spending £200 really!

thehillsarealive · 12/02/2010 20:09

I love my ugg boots - for the comfort value, and warmth in winter. No idea what or whom a bogan is, but my name is not Shazza! haaha

threetimemummy · 12/02/2010 20:11

PMSL I just saw "pozza"

Morloth · 12/02/2010 20:11

I used to go to Panthers - Reactor 1!

And what was the one upstairs? Reflections? Good times...

MrsC2010 · 12/02/2010 20:12

The one I used back then was hartingtons.co.nz (I think? My memory isn't that great!), not sure if they're still around, shipping or whathaveyou.

For what its worth, I see so many people wearing Uggs from all walks of life I find it hard to figure out if I am actually concealing some chavvy traits or not! At the the hideously deprived school I teach at many of the kids wear the fake ones, but equally as a yachtie I see so many (normally authentic) pairs kicking around the marina on rather aristocratic feet I no longer know where I stand!

They are awfully toasty though, they make the long winter dog walks bearable.
