...but why oh why are hugs considered unMN-like?

After all, there seems to be plenty of unMN-like hugs going around, and after all what's so bad about a hug?

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 11/02/2010 22:17

depends on the thread, the situation and the poster. Its not a huggy place in general but some threads/situations tis ok. just dont be getting all huggy on us now

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/02/2010 22:19

a hug is nearly as bad as a 'hun'!

i came from another forum where hugs and huns were the norm. it used to irritate the hell out of me, and its the short end of the wedge....soon you start to be censored. then you cant say scunthorpe or weightwatchers, or carseat then you really know your in trouble.

so be off with your hugs i say!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/02/2010 22:20

Can't stand gratuitous hugging

junglistwaspoorendof · 11/02/2010 22:24

I'm not huggy but some people on here think being anything less than a robot is a weakness. It depends on the thread. Hugs on AIBU might not go down too well

Kaloki · 11/02/2010 22:31

vicarinatutu That amuses me, I'm always giving hugs and saying "hun" (actually I call people sweetie more - can't see that going down well here!)

However I also swear like a trooper

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/02/2010 22:37

actually im not really that aversed to a hug in the right place but on the other forum it got a bit sickly. all that hugging brought me out in a rash.

BertieBotts · 11/02/2010 22:42

Because it gets irritating when people post

Thanks hun {{{hugs}}}

On every thread. You don't run around hugging strangers at the drop of a hat in real life, do you?

Comewhinewithme · 11/02/2010 22:43

I wuv you xxxx

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/02/2010 22:44

stewiegriffinsmom i agree.

kaloki - on the contrary - it was all a bit sterile and scrubbed spotlessly clean! - i think at the end i tried to post with the word 'crap' in and it got censored- thats when i gave up. and i got a post actually removed because i mentioned mumsnet obviously its a very dirty word in some circles....especially to disney who bought the site and shut it down!

Kaloki · 11/02/2010 22:53

Haha, oh dear! Sounds terrifying

Igglybuff · 11/02/2010 23:23

are for other forums where they have rolling emoticons with little arms which look ridiculous. I'm surprised they don't have Hun emoticons too.
