...but why oh why are hugs considered unMN-like?

After all, there seems to be plenty of unMN-like hugs going around, and after all what's so bad about a hug?

I quite admire Tigga for her resolute refusal to relinquish the signatures. Some of them positively subvert the genre. She may, in fact, be a genius of irony along the lines of hullygully, and is much misunderstood.

GibbonInARibbon · 12/02/2010 07:39

I love the way Tigga signs off and it always makes me chuckle.

I don't do hugs or huns but in some circumstances they are very apt.

I absolutely draw the lines at tickers.

Lizzylou · 12/02/2010 07:43

Tigga gets away with it, a lot of her sign offs are not even vaguely Hun-like or fluffy.
I like it, it is her style, if everyone started doing it though it wouldn't be right.

Have a Hungover Gorgeous xxxxx

Tortington · 12/02/2010 07:44

It's common

YoureGorgeous · 12/02/2010 07:45

well said cust

GibbonInARibbon · 12/02/2010 07:47

What's common?

serenity · 12/02/2010 07:59

If I want to give someone a hug, I'll give them a damn hug and if people don't like it they can sod right off hugs, licks and generally snuggles I watch my language far too much on here as it is.

:P (I want a raspberry emoticon, is just too grown up and I want a sarcastic font )

See, I don't think they are unMN-like any more. In fact I think "unMN-like hug" is very representative of the newer MN.

So a nod at the old MN, while in essence quite different IYSWIM.

TheFoosa · 12/02/2010 17:50

I didn't like the Tigga sign-offs at first but I have now been won over

heQet · 12/02/2010 17:54

Oh no, I like Tigga's sign offs. tbh, it's rather an 'up yours' to the no-ticker thing isn't it? It makes her stand out. And clearly she doesn't give a crap what we think. How much more 'Mn'y can you get?

And the no hugs thing, well, it's a reaction to the general been to the shop and stubbed by toe on the kerb oh did you hun of other forums. Hugs are saved for emergencies! death, destruction and running out of chocolate.

ktbeau · 12/02/2010 18:08

Don't get the hugs business at all. Toooooo slushy and just wrong and insincere when the hugger isn't going to actually deliver it to the huggee. Just wierd.

I was on a huggy site before and everyone was soooo bloody nicey nicey and oversensitive. Mners tell it like it is.

Hate the hug culture. I can tolerate understand it being used in emergencies (as already described) but even then I find it a bit odd, I mean its a virtual cuddle
