I am probably never going to go on holiay to Papua New Guinea.

Rod Liddle is an arsewipe.

Do not need to look at adverts for 2.4 million ound gaffs in Putney. Likewise am not in the market for a second home in Zermatt.

I can't afford the shoes and think that Natalie Hartley looks like a lazy-eyed scrubber whatever she happens to be wearing that week.

Am not in the market for 6 figure sum job running a council somewhere.

Am not going to watch sadie Frost in her new theatrical appearance.

Do not frequent the same restayurants as AA Gill.

Sunday Times has absolutely no relation to my life at all. Why do I love it so much and devour it every week?

caitlins tv on a sat made me roar about the bayeux folk having jazz hands

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 20:56

Perhaps Mrs Mills is AA Gills missus.

"For instance, this time, I noticed King Harold was wearing, at the time of his death, razzy, stripy socks ? like an indie kid in 1991. No wonder he lost to William the Conqueror. There?s not a fan of midperiod Wonder Stuff alive who could fend off an invading army of continental warriors. Or even, to be fair, order a pint of cider without getting ID?d four times.

Then there?s William?s investiture at Westminster, with all the courtiers kneeling around him doing ?jazz hands?, and even a nudey bloke ? squatting, incongruously, in one of the margins. I?m 34. It?s the first time I?ve ever seen the Bayeaux squatty nudey bloke. I can?t believe how badly I?ve failed.

HF - Ouarzazate, Essaouira or Marrakech or a combo, don't know yet.

Have you been? Can you make recommendations?

DP is a bit unsure about it so if you can help me persuade

expatinscotland · 07/02/2010 21:04

I agree with you there, Aitch.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 07/02/2010 21:04

cornsilk · 07/02/2010 21:05

I don't like the term 'culture.' It's a bit poncey.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 07/02/2010 21:06

lol

nancydrewrocks · 07/02/2010 21:08

I like India, Shane and Giles. Mrs Mills is brilliant and Natalie looks lovely in her shorts this week.

When I lived overseas the ST actually made my list of pros for a move back to the UK (although so did the NOTW so not sure what that says about me !)

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 21:10

Agree re Culture section but can be a bit worthy.

Acually I probably think that because I am a philistine.

Yes Elephant my first choice wasd India however want to go Kerala mainly and want to avoid monsoon - so we are going to go there xmas time hopefully.

I rememebr going to Tunis as a child and loving it. Berbers in the mountains and all that - was fantastic. Hope Morocco will be similar.

Getorf, Essaouira is lovely. It was sunny but windy when we went one Easter over 11 years ago. Quiet with lots of little interesting streets and cafes, etc. Marrakesh was a busy city, with loads going on. Also great.
We also went and did a bit of trekking in the Atlas mountains and stayed with some Berber families. Had some interesting meals in the dark (especially the braised sheeps head)

Are you planning to go with your DC?

Bonsoir · 07/02/2010 21:19

Essaouira is just lovely! Stay at the Villa Maroc... not particularly luxurious, but just perfect in every way.

Ingles2 · 07/02/2010 21:20

I like AAGill and India and Mrs Mills
And you all have to agree the food pics are bloody fantastic!

hf128219 · 07/02/2010 21:21

GOML - been to them all. Highly recommended. Fly to Marrakech. Stay for a few days.

Hire a car (pick up from the airport, not town). Drive to the Atlas Mountains for a few days. Then out to Ouarzazate to see Ait Benhaddou en route. Fascinating film crews in Ouarzazate - think Culture magazine in glorious technicolour.

If you have lots of time head out to Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara.

Then over to Essaouira (I love it there) - a bit of a hippy feel with a great fish restaurant called Sams.

Then return hire car to Marrakech airport. Driving very easy.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 21:26

Thank you v much HF, Anna and Tilly. yes am going with DD (14) who is looking forward to it very much.

Yes had a mind to start in Marrakech and then traipse around a bit.

Ooh all excited now.

Elephant - when you said India more worthy and serious I though you meant go to India nor Morocca, I actually now realise you were talking about India Knight lol (what a twat etc).
