With DS my waters went at 35 weeks, no signs of anything happening before hand, they just went, pain started, DS delivered 12 hours later.

This time I am 39 weeks, was told by MW on Friday I am 3-4cm dilated. I have been having sharp, sudden pains all day, the sort that shock you enough to scream! They only last a few seconds. Had a bloody show this morning also. Baby very active!

DH can't believe I don't know whats going on!! AIBU and thick!!???

What do you think??

I'd want to be in labour at 39 weeks - there's nothing worse than being overdue!

notnowbernard · 06/02/2010 22:23

Kinnies - don't get your post, sorry...

If you're a dedicated MN live birther, great

But, as OP's posts have implied, she's unsure and planning a hospital delivery - then call them and keep them in the loop

By all means come back if you're up for it!

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 06/02/2010 22:31

Just called them!

"Stay at home, have a paracetamol and a bath, get childcare over, if waters go come straight in due to Group B Strep"

I guess thats it then!

Sounds like a plan

I do recall the mw on the phone with dd1 telling me if I came in and wasn't in established labour I'd be sent home with a sleeping tablet and paracetamol. I told her if it wasn't established labour then I'd be demanding a caesarian

Went in 1hr later at 6cm

So I do know they can be a bit crap, but it's good to let them know the ball's rolling, as you were

How exciting

PrivetDancer · 06/02/2010 22:36

Good luck! Won't be too long

kinnies · 06/02/2010 22:36

Notnowbernard,
Sorry! I read your post as being arsey to the op.
Can see now that I got it wrong!

I did think it a bit odd that a mn'er would be nasty to a woman in labour!

Firawla · 06/02/2010 22:36

oh yeah get in the bath, if it is labour your pain will get much stronger after that then you will start to really know its labour

good luck

I'll get started!
I more worried about mum and dad seeing me in labour

Being on the phone to the labour ward and not being able to speak to tell them anything is a good sign that you are indeed in labour How exciting - good luck!

notnowbernard · 06/02/2010 22:40

Yep, a sleeping tablet

And I am always AMAZED when PARACETAMOL is offered as a means of pain relief...

Good luck op.

Get your other lo and parents all sorted, then find a nice quiet space for yourself and DH (bath if it appeals - it never did for me) and go with it.

xx

notnowbernard · 06/02/2010 22:51

I was v lucky though, had a very straightforward delivery with both

OP, hope it all goes smoothly for you

PleaseDeleteMeLetmeGo · 06/02/2010 22:51

Oh good luck marypoppins.

With my third I went from 'not sure' to 'get this bloody baby out of me' in oh, about 45 mins. I nearly had her in the hospital lift!

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 06/02/2010 22:57

oh heck PleaseDeleteMeLetmeGo!
Thanks all off for a bath, will post later.
THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck marypoppins.

Starlight - I threw two paracetamol squarely at the MW's forehead when she tried to say to take them after I'd been in labour with DS1 for 52 hrs (stuck at 4cm). I told her (in a very waily voice!) to not return without some fucking pethidine....I did however apologise to her after delivery (in total 72 hrs).

Boys2mam · 07/02/2010 09:20

How are things moving this morning marypoppins?

piscesmoon · 07/02/2010 09:23

I was in labour all night with my 3rd and didn't realise it! Good luck.
