to think that breastfeeding a 25 year old, even as a one off, is more than a little strange?

Article here about when breastfeeding should stop and the author quoted two examples of 25 year old women bfing as a one off after a bereavement.

'two 25-year-old women who had suffered bereavement and went to their respective mothers for ?one-off comfort?.
"It probably started with a cuddle and led from there," she tells me'

Now I am very pro breastfeeding but I found this very strange/unusual. I just can't imagine a situation where I, as a woman in my 20s, would breastfeed from my mother but then part of me thinks if they've just suffered a big loss, who am I to think this way of coping is wrong?

So, less of an AIBU but more of a what do you all think?

OMG curryfreak, you are just, soooo fucking funny! Breastfeeding mafia! That's hilarious!

I love how you manage to blend offensive and pathetic so effortlessly!

AnyFucker · 03/02/2010 22:35

< shoves boobs in tsc's face >

get a load of them, baby !

curryfreak · 03/02/2010 22:36

please secondcoming can you be my friend??
Please say you will!

Georgimama · 03/02/2010 22:36

I'm imagining, curryfreak, that your husband had serious issues with you BFing at all and "prides" himself on "allowing" you to BF. It wouldn't be a stretch to think that a man like that would have refused to go near your breasts until you ceased nursing and probably bullied/nagged you until you finally did.

By the way, other people can feed BF babies. There are these things called pumps, you see.

curryfreak · 03/02/2010 22:37

Anytime wastingaway!

thisisyesterday · 03/02/2010 22:38

Bet you knit your own sanitary towels.

wastingaway · 03/02/2010 22:43

I can only imagine how interesting a person you must be in real life.

theladyevenstar · 03/02/2010 22:44

AlwaysUltraFlexiWings · 03/02/2010 22:44

Georgimama are you always so presumptuous? You're comments are a little low tbh.

wastingaway · 03/02/2010 22:45

thisisyesterday, I'll breastfeed you if you breastfeed me.

wastingaway · 03/02/2010 22:46

AnyFucker · 03/02/2010 22:47

oh, this is soooo heartwarming

who said there is no milk of human kindness in this world anymore ?

< feels warm and nurtured, and errr, milky >

Portofino · 03/02/2010 22:49

Hmm so my suspected boxroom troll thread yesterday disappeared. And yet this is still going...?

If we're being serious, bf, or bottle feeding for that matter, should probably go on til dcs can drink their milk out of a cup. Past 2 yo it would seem unnecessary to me say.

curryfreak · 03/02/2010 22:50

I'm thinking i might teach a night class on bf oneself.
I think it just might catch on. Yeah this really could be a goer!

BitOfFun · 03/02/2010 22:51

Did it, Portofino? The ex-stepmother one? I reported that too.

Portofino · 03/02/2010 22:55

Don't know what happened BOF. I was quite subtle and only mentioned the box room once. When I got home from work it had vanished. It wasn't even THAT contraversial. Damn frustrating

Twas a classic boxroom thread though. First post, awkward sd - I am attuned to the style....

curryfreak · 03/02/2010 22:56

I'm off to bed now. Horlicks anyone?

porcamiseria · 04/02/2010 09:22

bitty

bleuggggggh

IvaNighSpare · 04/02/2010 10:29

haven't read the whole thread but the OP reminded me of the day my father died.
I went to my mum for a cuddle in her bed and she grabbed my head and shoved it between her boobs. I was 28 at the time.
I pulled away a bit sharpish.
So maybe it is a comfort thing (just not for me)
The subject has never been broached between my mum since or ever well.
In fact you lot are the only others who know (so shhhhhhh!)
