I am SO fed up of them being late out of school when we have to rush off to afterschool clubs. They are supposed to come out at 3.30 and we can just make the 4-6 yo gymnastics session if we leave at 3.30 on the dot.
So today i just walked into each of their classrooms and said 'excuse me Mr X I need to take Y now.' in a pleasant way.I think I'm going to do it every week now
I mean we get them to school on time, they should get them ou on time.

princessparty you were obviously dragged out of school early by your mother when you were having your spelling and puncuation lessons as your grammar and spelling is awful!!

OtterInaSkoda · 03/02/2010 18:12

PP - if you were bringing a meeting to a conclusion, doing the wrap up, and someone burst in because you were running a minute or two over, wouldn't you be pissed off?

LIZS · 03/02/2010 18:14

I'd consider it rude to have an alarm go off during a meeting or lesson. Unless that is accepted practice of course ...

elmofan · 03/02/2010 18:16

ok i can vouch that princessparty is not a troll , as she has posted on a few of my threads in the past ,
op i think seeing as your dc's will only be a few minutes late for their other class you should just let it go .

LIZS · 03/02/2010 18:20

Think it is only one who is late anyway, not both.

BadGardener · 03/02/2010 18:27

Dartfordmummy - shouldn't that be 'your grammar and spelling are awful'?

psychomum5 · 03/02/2010 18:30

princess, don;t you think that there might be other children with after school clubs, with as much right as yours t attend, who have mums who are normal and sensible and realise that school is more important than the after school clubs, and so the after school clubs should be got to only once they have finished school???

mine go to after school clubs every day (with 5 children, it happens like that), and the classes start at 4pm, school is supposed to finish at 3.10pm.

they are never out before 3.20pm, rarely are we back at the car before 3.30.....and yet we still make the 4pm classes.

however

I know that school lets out when it lets out.....they do not run to my timetable, they run to their own. The teachers time, when they have my children in their care, is more important than mine.

the ONLY time it is ok to pull your childen out is for hospital/doc/dentist appointments, and only then should you go thru the receptionist.......never just storm into the classroom

how fucking rude!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 03/02/2010 18:33

Oh do fuck off PP yes I am extremely sophisticated and intelligent... and aware what an ignorant troll/person(delete as you wish ) you are .

dmmum · 03/02/2010 19:01

This is a bit of a random rant but wanted to make several points!

PP do you really think the teacher is "not that clever". I think someone who can not manage her time is not clever - also think of all the training the teacher has done and continues to do!

If a child in my class set her/his alarm to go off and then ask to leave on a regular basis I would confiscate said timepiece as it would be disrupting the class. I would also put them in detention for being deliberately rude - they would be missing alot of play.

Would you be happy if the teacher just said to your child even if in the middle of something - it is 3.29 leave now - do not collect your stuff - get out - wouldn't want to keep your coach waiting - then just push them out of the door without checking who collected them? What if YOU were then late and a paedophile/murderer took them? What would the coach say about them being permanantly late?

At my school parents like you have had court orders against them from coming on school premises as they have disrupted others education too much.

BUT AS YOU AND ONLY YOU PAY FOR OUR WAGES WE MUST ALL BOW DOWN TO YOU!

Your mum must be so proud of you!!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 03/02/2010 19:07

Oh and PP the sob story "don't call me names" coming from you is laughable

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 19:08

It's threads like these that make me think my mum is right when she says people seem to think children should be run like careers these days

rush rush rush everywhere, don't be late, no time for fun/play/imagination

oh god, that means she's also right when she says young people today learn their lack of respect for their elders from their parents, too

never thought I'd see the day I'd think she was right!

missmapp · 03/02/2010 19:09

As a teacher and a parent, I have been waiting on the playground and rushing to pack away a lesson that the children were enjoying so much we overran. Generally I am in the cloakroom as the bell rings as I do feel for parents waiting in the cold ( i have been there!) but there are times we are out a couple of minutes late. There are also some children who, no matter how early we reach the cloakroom, are the last to leave as they take an age to organise themselves.

I think that your children seeing you working in partnership with the school and respecting staff is vital, and marching into school doesnt show this. There have been times when I have not agreed with my ds' school , but he has no idea, as I want him to know that you respect school staff and other children and deal with issues in a sensible way

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/02/2010 19:16

PP your approach to this issue is just truly bizarre. You haven't even let the school know!!!!!! Surely any sensible person would have communicated with the school before 'marching in' and starting outraged threads on an internet board

And to get so outraged on this issue - also odd. It's only a gym club. yes, it's nice to be on time for things and somewhat of a pain to have to wait.....but no more than that.

truly, truly bizarre.

Littlefish · 03/02/2010 19:31

PP, now I know you're taking the piss. Great trolling.

No-one in their right mind could possibly think it's ok, reasonable, or even a sane person's behaviour to get their child to set a watch alarm to go off in the classroom, just so they can get to a club on time.

I've seen several of your posts and threads recently and have decided that you set out to deliberately inflame threads for your own amusement. This is the definition of a troll, and as such, I am considering whether to report this thread to MNHQ.

Although this particular issue may seem trivial, others I've seen you post on, have not been so trivial.

Be a love, grow up, and start positing sensibly, or at least, intelligently.

Littlefish · 03/02/2010 19:33

posting

mummyloveslucy · 03/02/2010 19:44

A mum at our school does this every monday. The door is locked, but she walkes past all the other parents and knocks on the window, they then pass her little one out to her.
It really annoys the other parents and probubly the staff too.
She says "X has a ballet class to get to".

sarararararah · 03/02/2010 19:57

Sadly, I don't think she's a troll. I have half a class full of parents who would do this if they had a chance. Currently, our argument with our parents is over parking. Several of our parents seem to think they are entitled to park in the staff car park, making support staff late for work, as they want to avoid the police who are currently issuing tickets to all parents who park illegally!

It has restored my faith in human nature that you all disagree with the OP so vehemently as I really had begun to despair that so many parents (and therefore their children) think the rules apply to everyone else and not to them.

I do have lovely parents too in my class. I am surprised that so many of you haven't come across parents of the OP's ilk at your own schools.

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 20:00

DS1 starts primary school in September. Am really starting to worry about meeting the other parents!

IsThatTheTime · 03/02/2010 20:03

Don't worry getOVERyourself, you can normally spot the high maintenance ones pretty quickly and just steer clear - guessing the OP doesn't have a wide circle of mum friends (no time anyway, is there, what with all the extra curricular).

How RUDE.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/02/2010 20:03

mummyloves - we have a system at our school where we wait at the classroom door. The DCs are all sitting down and the teacher calls out their names when the parents attract her attention. It's always a bit stressful if you are short like me, but a very dim view would be taken of anyone who elbowed their way in or did what the mum in your post does ..... but then I don't think some people care what others think of them ......

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/02/2010 20:07

My other personal favourite is those parents who monopolise the teacher when she is trying to get the DCs out and home. I always get her attention, then wait to speak to her when the others have gone

mummyloveslucy · 03/02/2010 20:13

Ours is the same, but we wait in a queue and one at a time, the childrn's names are called and they can go to their parents.
I do think it's rude of her, especially when we've been standing there freezing for any length of time.
Ours is a church school and they pray at the end of the school day and she'll even disturb that. She's muttered something about it being silly that they have to say their prayers, when they're running late.

independiente · 03/02/2010 20:23

OP is insane. Quite mad.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/02/2010 20:24

Ironic, no ?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 03/02/2010 20:25

My last post was to mummyloveslucy BTW
