Men shouldn't wear scarves

It isn't manly.

If you are worried about a cold neck get a coat with a bigger collar.

Don't wear a scarf (especially the stripy ones) especially looped like a girl.

yanbu

it looks odd

there is a glut of stripey scarves being worn by men atm

can look fine if a plain colour worn under coat collar

def not a lady loop!

I love a stubbly man in a scarf, as long as its not a generic NEXT man shopping stripe scarf. Bit of charcoal grey is always good

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/01/2010 09:08

All the blokes I work with in my office wear scarves. The identikit stripey boucle type ones.

They also carry umbrellas.

One man has an 80s city type gent coat with a velvet collar.

Anotehr one has a sheepskin delboy coat, which looks rather incongruous with a scarf.

One bloke has a furry alaskan type hat (you know, the ones with the ear flaps which you can pin on top of the head).

I fancy none of my colleagues.

my dh looks great in a scarf. but he also looks great without a scarf. and he also looks great with nothing on.

so I guess it ultimately depends how sexy the man is in the first place.

feedthegoat · 29/01/2010 10:36

I think some people are a little harsh on the humble football scarf. I've got a bit of a thing for our manager in his. Much to DH's amusement .

lowenergylightbulb · 29/01/2010 10:36

The scarf/leather jacket combo on a bloke is very, very hot. And when it sort of muffles their lower face it can make them look a bit byronesque and sinister.

SinginHinny · 29/01/2010 10:40

My burly DH won't wear the scarf I bought him, he just looks aghast.

He runs a garage and obviously thinks scarves are girly.

He complains about the cold in his garage every day.

Earthymama · 29/01/2010 10:41

I think any man who is blue with cold in a blizzard or the pouring rain, with no scarf, gloves or umbrella is an idiot.

All the teenage boys at our local college looked great making igloos and having snowball fights in the park, wearing hats, scarves and gloves, as well as big, hooded jackets. It seems to be their dads who are of the opinion that wearing a coat might lead people to think they are gay.

(Though there was much outrage if the snowballs landed on their perfectly straightened/afroed/spiky hair!!)

This is not manly?

I think GetOrf, the issue may be with your colleagues, rather than scarves. That's why you don't fancy them.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/01/2010 10:53

My DH has an orange and brown stripy scarf, I think he loops it but cant be too sure.

On the subject of football scarfs, when I was 14 my boyfriend at the time used to have a tottenham hotspur scarf that I nicked so I could wear at school to remind me of him. I even used to spray it with lynx atlantis so it would smell like him...

hazeyjane · 29/01/2010 10:53

Blimey if you think men shouldn't wear scarves, what would you make of my dh - he wears a snood!
