Men shouldn't wear scarves

It isn't manly.

If you are worried about a cold neck get a coat with a bigger collar.

Don't wear a scarf (especially the stripy ones) especially looped like a girl.

this scarf

this jacket i think

RockbirdandHerSpork · 28/01/2010 12:59

My dad was given a neck gaitor for Christmas and I swear to God he has worn it every waking moment since, including in the house. He looks like he's got whiplash

belgo · 28/01/2010 12:59

Dh wearing a scarf was one of the things that attracted me to him!

You obviously haven't seen the way foreign men wear scarfs!

wubblybubbly · 28/01/2010 13:00

YABVU GOML! My DH wears a striped scarf, looped (like a girl) and he looks rather tasty in it.

Perhaps it is a fetish? I hope so, I've always fancied having a fetish

Keepo · 28/01/2010 13:00

see the looping is just wrong

wrong

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/01/2010 13:01

You lot are all mad.

lol at sophable's scarf wearer/high libido concept. Interesting but wrong.

Look, I look at DP's arse and think phwoar. Not a stripy piece of material round his neck. You lot are missing a trick.

Botbot · 28/01/2010 13:04

Don't mind men in scarves but am getting very bored of the vertically striped-autumnal-colours-woolly variety they all seem to be wearing at the moment.

Poledra · 28/01/2010 13:07

What about hats, GerOrf? Are they also on your list of verboten clothing for men?

DH does not wear a scarf but does wear a hat. I also do not consider his accessories when rating his phwoar factor.

noddyholder · 28/01/2010 13:08

My dp wears an old grey pashmina looks great on him

Tortington · 28/01/2010 13:09

dh wears like this and i think he looks great.

Heathcliffscathy · 28/01/2010 13:12

there's something a leetle red brigade/che about the scarf i linked to...i like!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/01/2010 13:15

I like DH in a scarf. He has a very fetching one - grey, green pink and purple stripes.

Apparently, though, that looping thing is not fashionable anymore.

It's the long scarf, twice round and knot at the front which is where it's "at"

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/01/2010 13:17

Yes DP wears hats sometimes - they are acceptable. If he wore a fedora or top hat he would get short shrift though.

To be honest I haven't given this that much thought, certainly haven't considered the sexual attraction angle re scarves so all you lot going phwoar have made me all confused on my own thread.

GetOrf - shall I help you get back on track -

Umbrellas - NOT Manly - Discuss ......

wubblybubbly · 28/01/2010 13:22

Ahhh Jamieandhismagictorch, man under umbrella on his own = very unmanly.

Man holding umbrella over his wife = very manly.

My DH would die before you could part him and his Arsenal scarf.

fernie3 · 28/01/2010 13:25

My husband wears a scarf sometimes but he does look odd in it, it keeps hims warm though and he doesn't complain about my giant green coat so I let if go.

Sunshinemummy · 28/01/2010 13:27

Disagree completely. I love men in scarves. DH has a few and is very manly

Poledra · 28/01/2010 13:29

Well, there's whole new element - the football scarf, symbol of his tribe. Whay about that then GetOrf? Not worn for warmth really but to identify himself to his fellow Neanderthals fans?

Habbibu · 28/01/2010 13:31

YABU, man scarves are great. not football ones, though.

Botbot · 28/01/2010 13:31

DH (slightly eccentric dresser, I admit) likes a short scarf, so he gets them from H&M children's department. Currently sporting an orange and navy fabric one with a skull and crossbones appliquéd on it.

pourmeanotherglass · 28/01/2010 13:32

when walking to work in the snow i wore a woolly hat to keep my ears warm - not sexy or trendy by any stretch of the imagination, but my ears are agony if I don't wear one - surely men in scarves is the same - No one looks at their best when out in the snow.
I quite like some scarves on some men though.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/01/2010 13:33

Sorry - I think a man in a football scarf is like a boy in a Ben Ten scarf
