To think that the recent spate of troll posts and deliberately provocative posts are actually ruining mumsnet

I love AIBU, i love a good barney same as the next guy but really, i haven't a clue what is sodding real anymore. I love the fun trolls, especially if they are clever. But when it is about sensitive subjects or just insulting our intelligence - its getting a bit much and i wonder if MNHQ should be considering some sort of control?

No idea what they're on about.

Isn't Umami just Umami?

What forum? Like Readers' Wives?

Ah, just read SHJ post properly. Taps nose. Feels all in the know-like.

WTF?????? they just pulled the cleaner thread??? oh god, be careful what one wishes for - and i think i almost got some sense out of someone who i wont name. But anyways............

can't actually see what was said that was so bad, but the fuckers pulled it before i could read the end

OK, i totally retract my OP - i don't want censorship!! especially when i have had wine

they ulled the cleaner thread ? why ?

tispity must have reported it

AnyFucker · 25/01/2010 23:02

*pulled

BitOfFun · 25/01/2010 23:05

Did it kick off?

AnyFucker · 25/01/2010 23:06

no more than usual BOF

weren't you there ? < narrows eyes >

JustineMumsnet · 25/01/2010 23:07

We pulled it because it was a slanging match. If you think someone's "mekking it all up" please don't post to that effect on the boards on the boards as you might be wrong and that's not fair. Instead write to us - tell us why you're suspicious and we'll have a look behind the scenes.
Thanks.

AnyFucker · 25/01/2010 23:09

I didn't think she was making it up

I thought she was deliberately stirring though, so I understand why you pulled it on that account

you did pull it because of her didn't you ?

< innocent look >

SerenityNowAKABleh · 25/01/2010 23:12

Ah, I got bored with it and Achieved Things today instead

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/01/2010 23:13

Justine - slanging matches are not a pretty sight and no, not a credit to Mumsnet.

But do these threads have to be pulled? Is it not possible for you to come on and have a stern word with us all? I know we can be exasperating but a few well chosen words reminding us about general politeness would have been heard, I'm sure.

The pulling of the thread just serves to fuel speculation about the suspect posters imvho.

lucyellensmummyisnotmad · 25/01/2010 23:14

fair point i guess - ooh, i feel like im back at school and been told off I think it was a fair pull. But some people do leave themselves wide open to criticism

uggghhnn, i have terrible deja vu and i dont know why

I guess it wasn't really a thread about a particularly significant topic so its not a great loss - but you could have at least waited til i finished reading it!!!!!

I have to hold my hands up to being out for a spot of virtual revenge - however i do think my foe took it in good humour.

I have learnt to immediately close any post that turns to be started by WWC who, I expect, is a fantasist who doesn't really live in a "posh house" or have a "super-high earning" DH. It is all said to deliberately wind people up, only lots of people don't realise and that's why her threads get lots of posts.

drloves8 · 25/01/2010 23:26

washwithcare , were you AnnVan in a previous name?

MadameDefarge · 25/01/2010 23:28

Well, I am going to try in the future to remember not to get sucked into the troll or no troll debate on a thread. And to contest the opinions expressed, not the poster expressing them.

Though 'tis hard, sometimes.
