to not want DH to nip in MY bath first.

OK, so this is not about saving water, or energy bills.

If I have run a nice hot bath, with my special bubble bath and am in my dressing gown about to have a soak, AIBU to object (allegedly quite aggressively, according to DH) to him nipping in there first for "a quick swill," as he won't be long and why does it matter?

Grrr...

TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 24/01/2010 12:52

I dont really care for baths
but I dont see why it matters tbh

compo · 24/01/2010 12:54

Yanbu

cleaning his dirty bits and leaving you with contaminated cheesy water

BitOfFun · 24/01/2010 12:56

There is always the odd floating pube too...

PrammyMammy · 24/01/2010 12:59

Cheeky. Yanbu.

mrswells · 24/01/2010 13:00

I would want a divorce.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 24/01/2010 13:15

YANBU. Agree that it's grounds for divorce.

squashimodo · 24/01/2010 13:31

yanbu, I would go mad if dh did this to me, he knows better than to even suggest it....I am

OpheliaPayne · 24/01/2010 13:56

drown him

AnyFucker · 24/01/2010 13:57

you would get away with a verdict of manslaughter due to dimished responsibility

NoobyNoo · 24/01/2010 15:17

YANBU at all! Why does he need to go in first and ruin the virgin hot soapy bubbliness? If it doesn't matter and he won't be long, he can wait and go in after you. Or have a shower. Or stand in the rain.

Oh Grrrr on your behalf. This would make my blood boil!!!

TheArmadillo · 24/01/2010 15:20

YANBU.

I would say it was grounds for divorce tbh.

I get around this by having my baths the temperature of lava (according to dp) so no chance of him nipping in.

Even he thought it was your dh taking the piss.

AnyFucker · 24/01/2010 15:23

I bet he has a wee in it too

AmazingBouncingFerret · 24/01/2010 15:29

Death would be too tame a punishment...

diddl · 24/01/2010 15:31

I´d probably let him have a quick swill if it meant I could then have a bath in peace.

But I would be standing tapping my foot & holding towel ready.

Quick swill-when I´m waiting = get in, get out

heQet · 24/01/2010 15:45

Not unreasonable.

You should run a tepid bath and use tesco value bubble bath and get into your dressing gown. Then say yes to his "quick swill"

then drain the bath when he's done and run your proper bath.

Or tell him that you know he only asks because he's too idle to run his own damn bath and he can sod right off.

willsurvivethis · 24/01/2010 16:04

YANBU - that's gross!!

TheUsefulSuspect · 24/01/2010 16:18

I would say

"No problem, as long as you don't mind sharing with the toaster"

shockers · 24/01/2010 16:25

"Quick swill" puts me in mind of pigs.

emsyj · 24/01/2010 16:26

Agree with Royalty - DH would never ever ever get in my bath first as he wouldn't be able to withstand the scalding temperature (and would be too lazy/not brave enough to risk my wrath by adding cold). DH runs me a bath every evening and this sort of behaviour would be treated very very seriously in our house .

largeginandtonic · 24/01/2010 16:28

yanbu

Dh would die if he got in my bath, they are calding.

largeginandtonic · 24/01/2010 16:29

Scalding

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 24/01/2010 16:31

Second hand bathwater is horrible. If dh did this, he'd only do it once.
