I'm bloody fed up tonight.

Had a glass of wine.. but a couple of G%T's would go down a treat.

Gin and tonic...what's the worst that could happen.....

Do it and enjoy - when was the last time an emergency suddenly occurred at yours on a Friday night? You could always call a taxi if something did happen. Relax, have a bath, chill out, and tomorrow you'll feel so much better.

mummysgoingmad · 08/01/2010 22:24

its up to you! your the mummy..personally i wouldn't

tethersend · 08/01/2010 22:25

I can't understand the OP as I am too drunk.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/01/2010 22:26

ah yes imagine being in A&E stinking of booze

however they are both fast asleep and tucked up

Why take the chance?

babblington · 08/01/2010 22:26

when you and your husband/partner are both home does one of you remain continually sober in case of emergencies?
Not picking, curious!

DollyMessiter · 08/01/2010 22:27

I wouldn't get drunk when in sole charge of a child / children.

Heqet · 08/01/2010 22:28

It's your call.

It depends what you mean by drunk.

Few drinks, bit tipsy - not the end of the world
Drinking so much that your judgement is impaired -unwise
Drinking yourself unconscious and thus being unwakeable in case of emergency - very foolish.

compo · 08/01/2010 22:32

It's fine
people on their own surely do it all the time

ninah · 08/01/2010 22:34

well, not all the time compo

coldtits · 08/01/2010 22:35

how drunk is drunk?

Harry Hill = hilarious drunk

or

Vomiting in own hair whilst unconscious drunk

tulpe · 08/01/2010 22:35

Agree with Heqet: a few drinks to point of feeling tipsy is fine. But personally I would drink no more than that.

gemmummy · 08/01/2010 22:35

a few won't hurt. do it and enjoy. law of averages says all will be fine. in fact, i'm pissed already amd craving kebab meat and chips with chilli sauce and garlic mayo!

coldtits · 08/01/2010 22:36

A couple of pub measures on top of a glass of wine wouldn't be awful unless you're a poncy lightweight

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/01/2010 22:38

Well yes I'm a single mother. Though wouldn't have made a difference when exh lived here.

Not relevant now anyway as I've had a weak G&T and just want bed

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/01/2010 22:39

Ahyes I might make a cheese sarnie before retiring - means I'm drunk for sure

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 08/01/2010 22:39

A few drinks is fine as long as you have your sense about you. I have had a couple of glasses of wine, girls in bed, DH not home for another hour. Enjoy.

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 22:39

It's not sensible

I never drink if it's just me

I wouldn't wake if I needed to

Just irresponsible

sorry. But if you ae used to it maybe one drink would be Ok.

As per title, getting drunk = bloody stupid

gemmummy · 08/01/2010 22:40

devil, you know whats right chick, weak g and t strong g and t, whatever. PJ's and bed always nice though, although I still wnat soem kebab...

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 22:40

Plus kids know when you are drunk and will feel a bit worired

ime

ninah · 08/01/2010 22:40

you certainly know how to party dwp

MiladyDeWinter · 08/01/2010 22:43

lol at tethersend

There was a thread earlier about LPs having it tougher during the snow and while the OP didn't mention this particular situation, there was no mention of the luxury of having a few glasses of wine while someone else is there to see to the DC. I know I appreciate DH for just being there.

The OP of that thread was slated but it IS difficult having to worry about having a few drinks after the DC are in bed if there will be a problem when for instance you are the only adult who can drive for example. I was sort of in that position once and so I was teetotal for that time and it was very difficult.

compo · 08/01/2010 22:43

If your used to it then it's fine
kids hopefully in bed by now fa, aren't yours?!?

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 22:45

That's not the point compo and none of your business

If you are drunk and there is a fire or your child voms in its sleep and you dont wake

that is the problem

I didn't say getting tipsy was wrong

but she asked about getting pissed.

compo · 08/01/2010 22:47

Oh sorry thought this was a lighthearted thread
