I'm bloody fed up tonight.

Had a glass of wine.. but a couple of G%T's would go down a treat.

Gin and tonic...what's the worst that could happen.....

I misunderstood you then
sorry

verytellytubby · 08/01/2010 22:50

I'm tipsy, had a few glasses of wine. I can't drive (but my car is snowed in anyway) but I could look after the kids if they woke up ill.

I don't get the problem. I'm not going to drink myself to oblivion. Do what you feel comfortable with. Everyone is different. My friend won't drink at home with her DC but will take a sleeping pill to sleep which I think is far worse.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/01/2010 22:50

FA maybe you are a heavier sleeper than me - maybe you sleep through a fire alarm.

Bollocks

I think my DC are at no risk - it was a lighthearted thread because hell yeah I'm having another right now.

I'll check n in the morning - if we are still alive.

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 22:52

You asked

I'm not gonna talk to someone who's being rude

and fwiw yabu

bollocks right back at you.

verytellytubby · 08/01/2010 22:53

Oh and when I've gone out on a bender (DH sober at home) it's always me that's got up in the night with the kids and he's slept through!

gemmummy · 08/01/2010 22:55

i'm shitfaced, and took the batteries out of my smoke alarm in case it wakes me...hic!...

juneybean · 08/01/2010 22:55

So lone parents aren't allowed to drink?

PintandChips · 08/01/2010 22:57

You know you've had enough when the bottle's empty (wine, not gin. i'm not an ALCOHOLIC for god's sake).

dial 999 in case of emergency, or the local Dominoes in absence of one.

scottishmummy · 08/01/2010 22:59

fa what a daft post.you know answer will be you're a tit to be incapable in charge of a child.but there is drunk giggly and drunk out of it.post that sort of post expect a pasting

claw3 · 08/01/2010 23:01

woo hoo g&t and cheese sarnie, you go girl!

Gubbins · 08/01/2010 23:01

Good grief. I've never been pissed at home alone with the kids, but thats just because I don't tend to get drunk on my own. When the husband and I have been out to parties should I make him stay sober or should we make the babysitter stay over until the morning? And should I feel very, very guilty about our new year eve? 8 kids asleep upstairs, 8 adults downstairs, but not a single one of them in a fit state to drive.

PintandChips · 08/01/2010 23:02

also, if you are worried about not waking up for DC in the night, put them in with you, but remember to put your fag out before you fall asleep.

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 23:04

I don't get it SM

it's aibu

I said yabu

what's the problem?

Juney I'm a single parent and I never drink

I didn't say no one shoudl drink

I assumed drunk meant somewhat impaired

i wouldn't do it myself.

claw3 · 08/01/2010 23:05

You cant drink and drive anyway, you might spill it.

scottishmummy · 08/01/2010 23:06

FA,bad typo i meant fs.not addressing to you

tethersend · 08/01/2010 23:07

Neither me nor DP can drive when we're sober.

Can someone explain how this impacts on my parenting?

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 23:10

Oh ok SM, thanks. I'm glad you said that.

scottishmummy · 08/01/2010 23:18

my tpying is notoriously shite fa

LadyBiscuit · 08/01/2010 23:19

I am rarely sober at the weekend during the evening. If my children need to go to hospital I will call an ambulance. I don't think you need a driving licence to be a parent.

FordCapri · 08/01/2010 23:20

I'd have maybe up to a bottle of wine. I know that after that much I'd still be aware of them needing me, be able to ring a taxi, a family member, deal with the usual middle of the night stuff.
I wouldn't get completely twatted though.

FordCapri · 08/01/2010 23:21

OP, how old are your kids?

Fibilou · 09/01/2010 12:38

Guess it depends on how "drunk" you mean by drunk.
Being drunk in control of a child under the age of 7 is a criminal offence.

meltedchocolate · 09/01/2010 12:45

Ah, I was wondering about that Fibilou.

meltedchocolate · 09/01/2010 12:45

ah I was wondering about that Fib.
