Just had a call to say my Gran has fallen and broken both her wrists on the untreated pavements...paths round us are a nightmare, too...so am having a facist moment and thinking people being kept by the government could 'pay some back' by clearing footpaths...

My sister has paid in 40% tax for the past 15 years and now due to cancer is not working and having to get benefits (she is entitled to them she paid in enough) so I do not think she or anyone like her should have to clear the snow to get the benefits .

However 2nd and 3rd generation dole scroungers should be made to do it

onagar · 09/01/2010 13:26

I wanted to say something really clever and sarky about this, but you've gone and covered all the best bits. Damn!

Has anyone mentioned that if your house burns down and you claim on your insurance you don't have to apologise & grovel to all the other insurance policy holders who have not needed to claim.

meltedchocolate · 09/01/2010 13:26

Totally foul post mmred.

I have been very unfortunate and lost my job and now have become single and have a small child to look after. I will shovel your snow if you so wish and my child will come too. When we freeze and become unwell I will be satisfied knowing I have paid you back every penny. I hope I am so fortunate as to get a job and have more to provide my family with and be less of a burden on you and your family.

I pray to God that you are never so unfortunate.

madamearcati · 09/01/2010 13:30

I think people from the council should be out shovelling snow actually.Isn't that what we pay our council tax before. When I was a child in the 70s even the small fairly remote village where i lived had the pavements cleared straightaway. We are more wealthy as a nation now , so why isn't it being done.

littlemoominmamma · 09/01/2010 13:32

Pagwatch - sounds very reasonable idea to me, _force no gently persuade all school children to dig their way to school, we as parents have to practically dig our way into work so why not them?????

KimiLovesHerFamily
my dad had to have an operation to remove an abcess at the base of his spine, he had to take so much time off work that he had to leave his job as an exec at a newspaper. he has had various health issues since and is now registered disabled and unable to walk.

My mum had always done shop work type of jobs once we were at school. then my sister died at birth and she was struck with severe depression. there are weeks when she doesnt leave her bed. she too does not work.

I had to give up my job as a social worker when i left my abusive partner, had to move 3 times in a year after he found us. because we moved away from everyone we knew there was no help for me with DS who has ASD. i was unable to work as he was constantly being sent home from school. literally 3/4 times a week with exclusions almost weekly.

so i guess im a 2nd generation dole scrounger.

if you want i can come over and bow at your feet in thanks to your astounding generosity for paying taxes to allow me to live. honesly im so utterly gratefull that you allow me to feed my children.

Ivykaty44 · 09/01/2010 13:43

Please sir - can I have more?

pagwatch · 09/01/2010 13:49

If the RBS Board want to come and sweep my drive as a gesture of gratitude for my generosity in having my taxes pay for their fuck ups , that would be fine by me.

They probably whine less than benefits scroungers and may dress better too. Butthen they will want to use their blackberries all the time and will have those annoying braying laughs.

Its such a choice.

Pikelit · 09/01/2010 13:52

More?!!!!

Aren't you supposed to break into a chorus of "I'll Do Anything" at this point?

madamearcati · 09/01/2010 14:13

LOL Pagwatch !!

mrschigur · 09/01/2010 14:20

Good idea.

I'll send my JSA claiming DP round to piss all over your path if you like. That should help melt it.

junglist1 · 09/01/2010 14:20

People on the dole don't need to do it you could with all the hot air coming out of your gob

Ivykaty44 · 09/01/2010 14:22

I would rather criminals cleared the snow than the board of RBS - and for god sake dont put the two groups together RSB may teach the crims a thing or two

pagwatch · 09/01/2010 14:28

at ivy

Ivykaty44 · 09/01/2010 14:30

There are a few MIL dragons around from all accounts from posters - they could go out and breath fire over the snow

OprahWinfrey · 09/01/2010 14:31

Where's the love?

a) Why was your gran out in the snow?
b) Why were YOU not running errands for her, making sure she doesn't have to go out to buy her daily rations. Where were YOU and her family? I think YOU should have been out to clear the snow in front of her every footstep.

I have been asking the elderly neighbours if they need anything from the shops and sending over my dh to fix things. I've asked my sisters as well to look in on their elderly neighbours ....

p.s Hope your gran is okay. I'm only joking. Well, sort of

OprahWinfrey · 09/01/2010 14:34

p.p.s. Oh, let me guess, you were probably on MN?

carocaro · 09/01/2010 14:34

not everyone on the dole is a bum you fucking idiots

carocaro · 09/01/2010 14:37

mrs chigur - and when you JSA DP has finished wee weeing I will get my JSA DH to shit on her driveway then she can get her car out.

carocaro · 09/01/2010 14:42

OP

You must be thick as shit not to have thought to go and do it yourself the minute the first snowflake laneded.

Why are you not roung there now looking after her instead of spouting vile crap?

Answer that!

OprahWinfrey · 09/01/2010 14:50

I'd really really like to know why your Gran was out and why you or your family weren't helping her, instead of letting her go out in this weather. I mean... since you feel so passionate about her (...after the fall.) I mean really, do you expect others to do the job that your family is failing to do?

expatinscotland · 09/01/2010 15:05

Is your gran drawing a state pension?

If so, she's being 'kept by the government' same way many people on the dole are, as most have paid NI contributions, too.

madamearcati · 09/01/2010 15:48

i think you should bear in mind that there are a lot of people out of work at the moment , not through their own fault but those of greedy city bankers and Gordon Brown's government who failed to supervise them.

ThingumyandBob · 09/01/2010 16:00

Nice post you have started mmrred! Ok, so let?s work down the shit list that this country seems to be compiling and get them all out clearing snow shall we? Lets see, (in no particular order)?. we?ll have:

The bloody politicians who used OUR money for ridiculous expenses?

The greedy bank leaders who caused the credit crunch and the bankers that benefited from their huge bonuses.

Ah, the people who are on benefits because they have lost their jobs because of the credit crunch! Oh, and put in chains the people who have to claim housing benefits because they have lost their home or who still have rent to pay even if they have lost their job?they can shovel the motorways?

Not forgetting criminals of courses.

And, your original nice idea the people on the dole.

That just leaves the righteous people like yourself to sit and enjoy the snow day off work?hmmm if this country gets more pissed off the list will no doubt grow even longer!

Be a bit more forgiving FFS!

And don?t tell me you?ve worked hard all your life OP?so have a lot of people and lost everything, doesn?t meant to say they need to shovel your snow as an extra punishment.
