To have expected a new bun?

At Gourmet Burger Kitchen I asked for a burger with no relish. It came with relish, so I reminded them that I'd asked for no relish. It was given back to me with the relish scraped off and a hole dug in the bun to remove the residual relish. I was a bit surprised, but maybe I was being unreasonable to expect anything else??

YADNBU. I'd have given it straight back

DarrellRivers · 04/01/2010 17:00

I suppose strictly speaking they removed the relish
Am on the fence

Alium · 04/01/2010 17:05

Well actually, there were still traces of relish round the edges, so they'd not even done a particularly good job of removing the offending relish

YANBU. Where I used to work, you would have been given a new bun. It's hardly going to break the bank giving the customer a new bun, and scraping the relish off takes time that a lot of kitchens just don't have.

GBK are expensive as well, so I would expect better of them.

LetThereBeRock · 04/01/2010 17:07

YANBU.

DarrellRivers · 04/01/2010 17:07

Aha, 'twas the GBK, i'd have expected a new bun TBH

BrahmsThirdRacket · 04/01/2010 17:08

YANBU that's really bad service

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2010 17:10

I'm a common Northerner but have never heard of Gourmet Burger King! What next McDonald's featuring Jamie Oliver?

pointydig · 04/01/2010 17:12

lol @ this op. Yes, you should have been given a new bun.

stealth, it's a Gourmet Burger Kitchen, not King. Might be like Chicken Cottage

DarrellRivers · 04/01/2010 17:12

very expensive burgers SPB
Tasty as well
When pregnant DD1 all I wanted was a bloody burger from Gourmet Burger Kitchen (am normally not keen on red meat)
In fact, all this talking about them has mede me want one

DarrellRivers · 04/01/2010 17:13

look here

MrsSantaChemist · 04/01/2010 17:13

Stealth, there are a few oop norf. It's not fantastic IMO. I object to paying extra for chips with a burger.

Sassybeast · 04/01/2010 17:17

If I paid £7 for a burger, I'd want a new bun. YANBU.

CarmenTinselPalmTreesSanDiego · 04/01/2010 17:19

YANBU. I hate relish and would be really grossed out by that.

Heqet · 04/01/2010 17:23

Not unreasonable to want a new one - you would still be able to taste it, even if scraped, surely?

Although I have heard enough stories about such places to know never to complain about anything, or demand replacements.

lucyellensmumagain · 04/01/2010 17:50

Seven pounds for a burger????? YABU!!!!!!

Jbck · 04/01/2010 17:53

Id want a whole new burger and bun, any residue might make you seek!

skinsl · 04/01/2010 17:58

YANBU
GBK usually quite good with service, very surprised.
I want a burger now!

wildfig · 04/01/2010 18:02

YADNBU! You asked for a burger with no relish; they got your order wrong, and should have replaced the whole thing, without question. Honestly. (agree with Mrs Santa - DH also objects to the stealth chip tax)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/01/2010 18:03

One of these opened near us a couple of years ago, we went once and never again. Overpriced and not actually very nice.

Alium · 04/01/2010 18:42

Was first time of going, so was not sure what to expect.

Feel a bit wimpy now as just accepted their 'picked out relish' burger. But the rest of my family had their food already and wanted to eat with them.

Came home and emailed head office to complain

OP posts:
Alium · 04/01/2010 19:53

Not heard anything back from them yet, though

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 04/01/2010 19:53

It might take them awhile i reckon

PeedOffWithNits · 04/01/2010 20:04

unbelievably petty/crap service - what if you had had an allergy to something in the relish

my sis is allergic to onions- everywhere she goes she has to specify "no onions" in salads etc

if they got it wrong or just scraped it off the plate and said nothing, she would be ill!
