YANBU at all. It just makes me heave. Once heard a friend of ours say to his DW 'mummy, could you pass me that' - he got right short shrift from the rest of the group on that

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 09:33

worse than being called 'mum' by health care professional

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 09:41

oh i dont mind that " we dont really want to start playing pop up pirates do we now mummy " ( hard stare to evoke " you must agree") kind of thing

CMOTdibbler · 04/01/2010 09:43

Oh, it wasn't in that 'talking to your partner, but to child really' way, their DD wasn't even in the room. He had obviously just started to call her mummy all the time rather than her actual name

Hate the use of the words yummy mummys and slummy mummys. Presumably these are the same women which find Sex and the City groundbreaking feminist TV and buy the 'sassy' Boden frocks aka mindless bints.

They used to collect Forever Friends teddy bears when at school.

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 09:49

and have " steady boyfriends"

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/01/2010 09:50

Don't get the mum from doctors - they ask if I am mum (presumably because don't look old enough to have teenage daughter )

Actually don't mind being called mum it's just the word mummy which is crap.

DD made me a Christams card which said Happy Xmas MOMMY just to see the look on my face.

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/01/2010 09:51

And were Mary in the nativity play

They also rave about cupcakes (a phenomenon which has passed me by).

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 09:52

and have shoe shaped money boxes

and pink stetsons

OOH OOH and use the word DIVA

mil used this about a 3 year old the other day i said " hwat do you mean"
she had no idea

YANBU

I also hate doctors refering to me as 'mum' or 'mummy'

And as for the H of a friend of mine, who calls her 'mother' in a totally serious way, I always want to clobber him while hurling at the same time.

overmydeadbody · 04/01/2010 09:53

Even DS doesn't call me mum when refering to me to others, he calls me by my name. It's only if he is speaking to me that he calls me mum.

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 09:54

I have just become Mum with ds1

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/01/2010 09:58

I have been mum with 14 year old dd for about 4 years (still reverts to mummy when she wants something). Seems abnormal for a teenager to use mummy (and vomit unduicing when adults do it).

They also have pink car accessories (furry dice, air fresheners), magnets on their fridge going on about their love for handbags and are the type to queue up for sales.
