as played tonight in Gavin and Stacey, was the song that was played at Scott and Charlene's wedding 23 years ago the other week, as DH seems to think I am sad to do so! Please tell me I am not the only one! In fact I even bought the single !

I had one, I didn't buy it though. My father used to record people's weddings, I was given it by a DJ at one of them when I nagged him for it

I was singing along and knew all the words!

Portofino · 02/01/2010 00:47

It made me come over all funny!

FluffyForLifeNotJustForXmas · 02/01/2010 00:49

I bet it's on you tube!

Saucepanman · 02/01/2010 01:04

YANBU, surely everyone knows that! Though YABU for pointing out it was 23 years ago!

MrsKitty · 02/01/2010 03:19

YANBU - Everyone remembers that. Them using it in G&S depends on everyone remembering that - wouldn't have been funny otherwise.

Pheebe · 02/01/2010 08:15

Yes and Dave's favourite poem was the one at the funeral from 4 weddings and a funeral...as was the vicars question to nessa...do you love him nessa...do you

beautifully written, can't believe its the last one ever

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 02/01/2010 09:28

I was singing along too and knew all the words too
When it came on I shrieked at DH ooooh Scott and Charlenes wedding song.

Bathsheba · 02/01/2010 09:33

I was singing along too....

emsyj · 02/01/2010 09:36

It's definitely on YouTube - and I know all the words too. I have no shame about it, therefore YANBU.

BigBadMummy · 02/01/2010 09:41

pheebe that bit was fabulous. I love that poem and used it in a eulogy I did a few years ago.

And not only when asked about loving her but when Stacey said "really?"

Fabulous

I can't believe it will be the last one. THey said that about the Royal Family a few years ago.

PatTheHammer · 02/01/2010 09:45

He-he, I already downloaded it about 5 mins after the show .

Probably still got the single gathering dust in my garage (after 5 house moves).

That baby was so cute he even made Smithy look cute when he was standing there.

'It's true, most of the time I find him disgusting....' Brilliant line, just made me think of the kfc bargain bucket moment!

2babyblues · 02/01/2010 10:48

YANBU - me and my husband both commented on it. But we are probably quite sad!!!

MayorNaze · 02/01/2010 10:52

ha dh knew the song but i didn't. he is hard core rock fan as well so much mockery ensued

Hulababy · 02/01/2010 10:52

Yes, said that to DH when we watched it last night. Angry Anderson.

Also noticed the line pinched from Four Weddings whent he vicar asked Ness if she loved Dave. Oh, and the 4 weddings poem from the funeral.

PeachyRingsInTheOld · 02/01/2010 10:59

My sis ahd the single, and absolutely I remembered it very clearly LOL.

However if it really was 23 years ago (really?) then I was 13 which IMO is the perfect age for remembering such music.

PatTheHammer · 02/01/2010 11:08

Good grief 23 yrs??? I was only 7 then, makes me feel a bit better and proud of my truly magnificent memory

Hassled · 02/01/2010 11:16

I remember the Scott and Charlene wedding well because I was pregnant with DS1 - I was 20, at Uni and living in a manky flat in Peckham. I watched Neighbours obsessively while I ate pounds of Fruit Pastilles.

G&S was so lovely - and the appearance of Prescott and Noel Hearsay was genius.

vintagesocks · 02/01/2010 11:19

can't be 23 years!! noooooo....

goes to find pension book...

gobsmackedetal · 02/01/2010 12:31

who are scott and charlene???

LoopyLoo2 · 02/01/2010 12:38

I recognised it too but there was alos a reference to my all time favourite film 'Four weddings and a Funeral' too which I picked up (well, do you love him, do you)so maybe I'm doubly sad!
