Had a present from neighbour (we don't know eachother that well). Swapped presents for eachother's kids and she also gave me a present which was a pair of grey marl hipster pants. Although generous of her, I think this is just plain wrong! AIBU?

Do you mean knickers or trousers?

gingernutlover · 29/12/2009 20:52

ha ha, i think it's funny! Maybe she saw your washing line and thought you could do with an update!

sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 20:52

sorry, I meant knickers, dur!

They were just very average, not comedy pants or pretty girlie ones!

Grey knickers?

That is weird.

Are you sure they were meant for you?

roulade · 29/12/2009 20:57

Hmm, YANBU, it is definitely weird for someone you don't know very well to buy you underwear!

annabelcaramel · 29/12/2009 20:57

YANBU. That's a pants present.

KurriKurri · 29/12/2009 20:57

She'd bought herself some pants just before Christmas, and they didn't fit. Waste not want not

that's really very, very weird

my best friend ever was saying she wanted some new pants, and i saw some i knew she would LOVE. but i couldn't buy them, because it would just be weird! and she's my best friend, not just a random neighbour

barking

sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 21:11

DH says he NEVER wants to see me in them, it's freaked him out!!

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 29/12/2009 21:11

What make are they?

I like grey marl anything, so would probably quite like them.

annabelcaramel · 29/12/2009 21:12

But look on the positive side - it's given us all something to talk about, you don't get this level of chat from a scented candle

LynetteScavo · 29/12/2009 21:12

Sadly no ex partner has ever shared my fondness for grey underwear.

Aww cut her some slack... It is a little odd but I'm sure she thought she was giving you something practical rather than another scented candle or boots botanics bathroom bollocks. Did she get you the right size?

sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 21:21

Lynette, tried to find pic on tinterweb but to no avail! They are Primark secret possessions 12-14, grey with pink "city gal" trim and a London/Paris/NYC postcard picture on one side. You are welcome to them if you would like them!

OP posts:
sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 21:22

Oh if only i'd got a candle instead!

OP posts:
displayuntiltwelfthnight · 29/12/2009 21:24

lol at grey pants
rofl at ones with pink "city gal" trim

Was she there when you opened them?
Do you think maybe her dp swapped the presents round without her knowing just so he could imagine you flouncing about in grey marl.......?

thisisyesterday · 29/12/2009 21:26

do you think they were meant as a joke for someone else and she has accidentally given you the wrong gift?

i have done that before (not with pants thankfully, see other message), but in a wrapping frenzy, mis-labelled things

she might be sitting ther enow wondering who did end up with the pants

sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 21:27

No, she was not present, I opened the present in disbelief, lost for words for once! Aagh her husband having thoughts about me in grey marl, that's just wrong, wrong, wrong on sooo many levels!!!

OP posts:
ijustwanttoaskaquestion · 29/12/2009 21:30

perhaps her husband bought them for you - wrapped it up and told her it was hankies!!
