Had a present from neighbour (we don't know eachother that well). Swapped presents for eachother's kids and she also gave me a present which was a pair of grey marl hipster pants. Although generous of her, I think this is just plain wrong! AIBU?

You've got to register 'greymarlcitygal' as a spare name!

sazzerbear · 29/12/2009 21:33

Let's hope it was a genuine mistake!!!

ok i have a plan

just go round tomorrow, with the pants, and give them bnack to her and say "oh, i think there was a mistake, you gave me these pants in a present"

then just see what she says

Oh, no sazzerbear! - Primark pants? I thought they might be posh ones.

Very weird but has caused us endless amusement! Do you perhaps own some similar ones that neighbour has spied on the line looking a bit worse for wear?

smokinaces · 30/12/2009 09:16

disclaimer I dont mean this in a stereotypical, judgemental fashion, its just my experience but I cant seem to word this right!!

I know some people who give presents like this. They honestly think it is a good present. The ones I know live in council estates and buy presents weekly to have a hoard at Christmas etc to give out to their friends. They are very community like (know everyone, chat to you as you get in your car/pop to the shop (can even seem a little intrusive if you arent used to it) They honestly dont realise that pants arent an appropriate present for a neighbour, they just see it as a neat little present for them.

Please dont return them or anything as I think you would upset/offend her. Just thank her for all the presents in a generic manner and donate them to a charity shop or something.

Your neighbour gave you one pair of Primark pants for a Christmas present?! That's just bloody weird. YANBU

I can honestly say I have never owned a pair of grey pants and never will! I will donate them to more worthy cause!
