I have a long history of problems with my MIL, she causes no end of problems for us. I have not added her to my own facebook as been burned too many times.
However she saw on my DH facebook that I have a new friend (MNetter) who she messaged asking if she knew me, and telling her she was my MIL!!
I emailed her and said my friend was a little confused about why she had had an email about me from her. She replied "I wasnt talking to you"!!!

I have asked my DH to delete me from his FB

Im now considering blocking her from my FB, but i know the HUGE reaction this will create. Shall i set up a fake FB and add her to that? then block her from ever seeing me real FB?

Why was she looking at your dh's fb? Was she logged in as him or just looking over his shoulder?

said · 29/12/2009 15:05

Oh, that's a bit odd. Can you not just make yourself unsearchable for?

comefollowthatstarwithme · 29/12/2009 15:06

I think you can block her without even though she is not your friend. I have done this with one vile person before.
At least your dh won't have to delete you and she will not be able to see any of your activity.

comefollowthatstarwithme · 29/12/2009 15:07

Oh was she logged in to your dh's fb?

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 29/12/2009 15:09

How very odd
Do whatever you need to do to stop her doing the very weird things she's doing.
What happened to MIL's just being critical and casting sneery glances at your new expensive party frocks?

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 29/12/2009 15:11

well on DH news feeds it said "lisad123 is now friends with greatmumsnetter" so she clicked on greatmumsnetter and sent her a email!!
she is loppy

sounds bloody loopy too!

DollyMessiter · 29/12/2009 15:12

What strange behaviour, even for a MIL!
You can block her from seeing your account or searching for you, just go into profile settings.
Or set up a new account using a fake name and message all your friends to let them know - but obv don't have your DH as a friend on that account.

motherbeyond · 29/12/2009 15:13

that is realllly weird!i would go ballistic!what did you say to her after she said "wasn't talking to you!"?

beesonmummyshead · 29/12/2009 15:14

if you block her, she will not be able to see you on ANYONE's facebook, will not be able to see any posts from you, or even know you exist. Tell her you have had some trouble with facebook and have closed your account. She'll be none the wiser. And yes, she counds like a nutter

Heqet · 29/12/2009 15:14

Why do you think she made contact with this mner? What do you think she wanted to do? Become friends? get info about you?

You missed a chance though, tbh, you could have had great fun with her, via your mn friend. [evil]

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 29/12/2009 15:14

i dont have her on my FB at all and everysetting is set to "friends only", but some news feeds go to DH. Shame will have to sort something out with SIL too, as thats the only way we keep in touch!

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 29/12/2009 15:16

damn should have asked friend to reply "yes I know lisa, we met on a street corner"!! and she is also my dealer

OP posts:
wannaBe · 29/12/2009 15:17

if you block your mil then she will not be able to see you even on dh's wall.

She sounds like a nutter.

fuzzywuzzy · 29/12/2009 15:19

put your family on limited profile that should stop you appearing o ntheir newsfeed.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 29/12/2009 15:20

could i not just hire a hitman?

OP posts:
makkapakkamoo · 29/12/2009 15:26

Lmao. If you find one let me know!

or you could write to eastenders asking for her to be their next whodunnit victim

LastOfTheMulledWine · 29/12/2009 15:41

I am invisible to everybody on fb unless I'm friends with them. If you aren't friends with me you can't see me on other people's friends lists and can't see updates on what I'm doing. I'm also not searchable on there.

Either block your MIL or change your settings.

diddl · 29/12/2009 15:49

Oh FGS-just block her!
So what if it creates a reaction!

Why was she looking at your husbands facebook?

TBH,I´ve never understood why people have those they live with as facebook friends!

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 29/12/2009 19:05

I have blocked her! woo hoo freedom

OP posts:
NancyDrewRocks · 29/12/2009 20:01

hitman sounds like a better approach

beammeupscotty · 30/12/2009 00:00

Setting up fake facebook brilliant idea. How about new identity, pretend to emigrate to Australia, clothes on the beach and disapear, go into the witness protection programme. Do ANYTHING to get away from this horrible woman Poor you

NewYearNewKnickers0nMaHead · 30/12/2009 00:06

OMG what a loon, I'd of told her to fuck right off!

Doozle · 30/12/2009 00:07

Very odd behaviour. Does she have a lot of time on her hands?
