To think my normally sane DH is in danger of looking like a racist prick?

FlamingoCrimbo · 21/12/2009 13:40

DH just forwarded me an email that has been forwarded to him and to other people at his work by one of his colleagues.

I'm hoping he's not forwarded it to anyone except me - it doesn't look like he has.

It's one of those ones called 'border law'. Just found a US version here - swap the US references to UK ones.

DH is just misguided, IMO, sending this on - he ought to know I'd find it offensive. But it's made me wonder if IABU to find it offensive and to think it's probably been written by someone in the US equivalent of the BNP or at least widely distributed by BNP supporters.

So - AIBU and, if IANBU, how would you tackle it with him? He's very lovely, kind, and, sometimes, misguided so I don't want to upset him. I had to stop myself replying with 'you know this email makes you look like a racist prick, don't you' but that's not really very nice, or helpful!

gonna buck thr trend her and say...its not racist as its not about race. its about our countries percieved lack of action against illegal entry to our country.

whether that be an afghan/french or outer mongolian.

that said, it is rather ignorant and very daily mail like in its attempt to rally yet more hatred.

all a bit pathetic and DH should be given a bit of a telling off for being so niave

daftpunk · 21/12/2009 20:43

Seeker;

My "form" is believing in democracy, in believing that NG should appear on television (he is the leader of a legit political party after all) in believing that 4% of voters are worthy of being listened to, in believing that the Labour party have ruined this country and that most of their supporters are deluded fools....

Then yes, I have "form"

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 21/12/2009 20:50

Democracy? Yeah, but only for the white middle class married heterosexuals who can trace their family tree back to Cromwell....

You're a facist. Tell the good folks on the thread how you don't just vote BNP, but tried to join too!

FlamingoCrimbo · 21/12/2009 20:58

Widow Finding it very difficult not to swear at you!

In fact, I can't stop myself!

Fuck off!

Some people are gullible, some people are not as bright as you. My DH is a wonderful, wonderful man who is sometimes a bit gullible and sometimes a bit daft. Doesn't everyone get it wrong sometimes?

FFS!

Actually, I have never voted BNP, if you were on the BNP threads you would know that.

I said I will be voting for them at the next election, and that I can fully understand why 4% of the electorate voted BNP.

Where immigration is concerned, we are the dumping ground of Europe.

tethersjinglebellend · 21/12/2009 21:12

"Being concerned about immigration doesn't necessarily make you a racist."

True- but I've never met a racist who wasn't concerned about immigration.

Besides, the email wasn't even funny. I mean, if you're going to be offensive, at least make sure it's funny.

"Where immigration is concerned, we are the dumping ground of Europe"

Is this the start of that much-promised politically astute debate about immigration? Or did I miss it?

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 21/12/2009 21:16

Is that your idea of logic, DP?

Voted, intend to vote, tried to join...all adds up to the same thing, doesn't it? Card carrying facist.

Whatever, I;m not wasting my time argueing with your kind, its like banging ones head of a particularly irritating wall anyway. You're a lost cause.

I'm just making sure everyone else knows you're a BNP voter (once you've worked out how)

daftpunk · 21/12/2009 21:21

Ha ha ha

I don't need you as my spokesperson you fool, I spent 3 weeks on the BNP threads expressing my views, they're hardly a secret.

And relieved that you will not be bothering me again.

pithyslicker · 21/12/2009 21:37

What I respect about Daftpunk is at least she says what she believes, and even when criticized sticks to her opinions and as there are a lot of BNP supporters (not on MN though) it doesn't really help to just ridicule their views.

People should listen to what she says and try to understand why she and a lot of people want to vote BNP, just being horrible to her and BNP supporters isn?t going to stop people voting for them. It seems to me they seem isolated and not listened to enough already.

I wouldn?t vote BNP but I am interested in why people would and it seems the best way to find out is to listen to them.

SantaWears2SnowShoes · 21/12/2009 21:39

cos it gets them................attention

I meant listen to their supporters not the party.

But when Nick Griffin is allowed to speak he shows what a total arse he is and that their policies are ridiculous.

daftpunk · 21/12/2009 22:02

TSC;

I went through all this on the BNP threads, I have no sympathy for immigrants who cross 7 countrys to get here, that isn't desparation, if they were desprate they'd be happy just to get to Turkey.

This country is a soft touch, and they know it.

I don't live in Burnley, or the other Nothern towns where the BNP do well, but there has to be something seriously wrong when Labour voters ( most of the BNP votes came from ex Labour voters) turn to parties like the BNP.

seeker · 21/12/2009 22:03

But if you listen to daftpunk or ask her questions you never get any sensible reasons for her views. You get "I've always thought like this and so do all my friends" I have asked her repeatedly to give me some intellectual justification for her opinions, but it's like talking to a teenager "Because I do - all right? I just do. And then a whole lot of right wing sloganeering "Labour is ruining Britain" "Britain is the dumping ground of Europe" and so on and so forth. I would LOVE to have an intelligent, thoughtful extreme right winger on here who could argue their corner properly - I would love to try to understand why they think the way they do - but daftpunk isn't that person.

daftpunk · 21/12/2009 22:09

What are you on about..?

If you asked anyone why they vote for any party they would give a couple of reasons and that would be it.

If I asked you why you vote Labour I wouldn't expect you to go on for a bloody hour, although your posts are always so boring you probably would.

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 21/12/2009 22:12

an hour? Try one minute...but thats too much

You don't even understand the questions. Why do want to vote BNP? What do they have that you find attractive? And would you like them to run the country?

Answer those. But you won't. You're not capable of a rational thought.

seeker · 21/12/2009 22:15

You were the one who said you wanted a "decent debate" - I'm up for it if you are. It's just you've never managed anything but slogans before.

daftpunk · 21/12/2009 22:19

I will vote BNP because I want them in parliament, I want NG to stand up in the house of commons and say

" No, we're not having any more immigrants in this country because we can't fucking afford them"

" No, we're not spending any more money on Gay rights, we'll give the money to pensioners"

" No, we're not spending any more money on overseas aid when we have our own people living in poverty"

That's why I'm voting for the BNP.

tethersjinglebellend · 21/12/2009 22:25

Bit of a shitter for those gay immigrant pensioners, then.

Are you even allowed to say 'fucking' in the house of commons?

seeker · 21/12/2009 22:33

So who's going to keep the NHS going when there are no more immigrants to work in it?

Exactly how much money is spent on gay rights - and what is it spent on?

And exactly how many people in this country are dying of starvation?

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 21/12/2009 22:35

ok, and you're alright with the rest of what that means?

Under the BNP government, if you divorced your husband you would have no rights over your children or your home, or his money.

Under the BNP government, anyone not born in this country would be sent "home", and many born here but with a different ethnic background would be deported. Are you OK with having no doctors or nurses, not enough staff to run essential services, as they've all been sent somewhere else?

Are you happy to see you neighbours forcibly removed from their homes?

Are you happy to have your children caned in their schools?

Thing is, you're never going to be any more than a racist, bigoted, semi-illegal band of rightwing extremists.

Your man NG might have a suit on now, but he and his cronies have criminal records and hatred in their hearts.

You are facists and will never ever get anywhere in the UK, a country of openness, tolerance, and multiculturalism (plus theres all them gays and jews in charge, innit )

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 21/12/2009 22:40

DP is drawing you all in again ladies, your sensible attempts at debate won't succeed. It's all about the attention. Round and round in circles....same old, same old.

flockwallpaper · 21/12/2009 22:41

what Mamazon said. Not a nice or clever email to forward, but not racist either.

(getting back to original question)

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 21/12/2009 22:44

you're right squeeze, of course. Dagnammit! Same old....next comes the poor me routine, and then we get called "Liberal Facists" (she must have read that somewhere)

RESIST! RESIST! I'll go hit myself on the head with a frying pan, it will have much the same effect but without the bother of typing...
