Don't want to AIBUBStealth so
Last few days of Borders closing down sale before they are all out of a job.
Loads reduced massively.
Mahoosive queue.

Blokey in front of me queueing for about half an hour gets to till to be told his book is a pound.
-A pound? I just queued half an hour for that!
-Well we are really busy, sorry.
-Well you should have a special queue for people without much stuff.
-Well that's not really fair on everyone else.
-(starting to shout and point) That's terrible customer service, don't you care about what we think?
-To be honest, sir, no, I couldn't care less, the store is closing down.
-(splutter) what? where is your manager? I want to complain!
-She won't care either. Now do you want this book or not?
-(pays while muttering about awful customer service and rude staff) I'm not coming here again.
-Fine by me!
-Well I think your attitude is disgusting
-Do you know what? You can kiss my arse.

Customer storms out.
Entire queue laughs. Myself and a couple of others cheer and her fellow staff all join in.

Poor girl was shaking and white afterwards, he was so aggressive. I told her she should have taken his book back and refused to serve him for the hahas.

Ooh, it was satisfying to watch though!

Fabulous!

Oh, the times I have wnted to do that in the past!

Poor folk about to be out of a job days before Christmas.

Janos · 19/12/2009 12:15

What a bully.

Good for her!

MillyR · 19/12/2009 12:16

Is the Paperchase stuff reduced in Borders?

RubberDuck · 19/12/2009 12:18

HAHA

I worked in Customer Service for 7 years.

I've so wanted to do something like that soooooo many times. Good on her! I'd have cheered too

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 19/12/2009 12:20

brilliant wasn't it!
the paperchase stuff si reduced, mostly 60% off. DVD's are all reduced as well.
A lot of the 'new' books are full price though, apparently the publishers have taken out injunctions to stop them selling them at reduced prices. there were people complaining about that as well Twats.
I got some good peppa books for stockings and some kids book cheap though.
Felt like a vulture but the girls never get new books!

the staff were really good though, all just mucking about and not really caring but in a friendly way IYSWIM. I wouldn't have been half as patient in their position.

Rubberduck, I have worked behind too many tills so I know exactly how she felt.
She looked terrified afterwards, the others kept saying she was so right, and all of the next few customers congratulated her.
The blokey serving me (who was next to her) said he wants a stroppy customer now so he can tell them to fuck off.

So if you go to Borders BE POLITE!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/12/2009 12:23

Good for her.
I dont understand his logic. He obviously wanted the book because he picked it up and queued to buy it, what difference does the price make??
You would of thought he would be pleased he's getting such a bargain.

Im so glad im on maternity leave this year and ive missed the Christmas customers.

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 19/12/2009 12:24

No, he was complaining that he had queued for half an hour when it was only a pound, so he shouldn't have had to wait

Loads of similar things happening in Woolies last year - I saw one man moaning cos they ddn'didn't have any carrier bags left for him to carry the armfuls of cheap stuff he was buying.

5inthesleighbed · 19/12/2009 12:27

She was right, he was an arse.

Ha ha! I would've cheered too.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 19/12/2009 12:57

Which Borders was it Jack. Our local Swansea one has had loads of crap - people complaining at the start of the administration that they weren't taking enough money off the books

FFS - these lovely people (and everyone who works in borders is lovely) are out of jobs just before christmas!

FolornHope · 19/12/2009 12:58

LOLOL

great!

Pikelit · 19/12/2009 14:38

Some people are just VILE, aren't they? So good to hear someone being put in their place too. Well done that girl and well done the customers for cheering her!

I felt horrendously bad about cashing in on the reductions in Woollies last year and said so to the woman who served me. She actually thanked me (added to guilt) and said that they'd had to deal with loads of demanding and rude customers. None of them realising how very unmerry a Christmas it was to anyone working for Woolworths.

I am planning to go into the Brighton branch of Borders tomorrow and am hoping to see the nicer side of human nature. If not, I shall speak up!

MargeSimpsonMyAlterEgo · 19/12/2009 14:41

Good for her!

Tortington · 19/12/2009 14:44

excellent!

MargeSimpsonMyAlterEgo · 19/12/2009 14:44

That's a real shame. Amazon is just not the same as a proper bookshop. Feel a bit sad now.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 19/12/2009 14:44

ROFL!!!

Especially at the bit where he declares he won't be coming here again.

Well. No. Thats the point isn't it?

I wish I could get to a Borders for some bargains. Poor staff though, truly crap tim eto loose your job.
