To cry about what DS just did?

DS1 (11) was in town with DH buying Christmas presents. They passed by a homeless guy and DS dragged DH into the nearest shop, bought him the biggest thickest jumper he could find (with his own meagre pocket money he had saved) and gave the man the present!

After realising that the bag wasn't a trick ( makes me wonder what nasty things other people have done), and DH explaining that DS just wanted to give him a present, he was so happy

I am so proud of him!

It was all his own idea, and we really are stingy with his pocket money so it wasn't a small amount to him.

so I cried. And I don't do crying over soppy things. So... AIBU?

That's just lovely what a wonderful DS you have!

YouKnowStuffingIsForLunch · 12/12/2009 19:40

And there I was worrying that Christmas was just an exercise in receiving...

Trust DS to remind me how to give

He really is lovely. I don't know where he gets it from

And he's had a really rough year coping with me being crippled by SPD, the arrival of his new sister and his dad's depression.

He is the most incredible boy. I will be making sure he has the merriest of Christmases possible.

The true spirit of Christmas. You must be so proud.

Would it embarrass your lovely ds if you showed him this thread ?

YouKnowStuffingIsForLunch · 12/12/2009 19:48

He would a lovely shade of purple, onestep, but I think he needs to know just how nice he is!

I asked him why he did it, and he said that he just imagined what it would be like not to have any presents at Christmas, and wanted that man to have something too.

Jbck · 12/12/2009 19:56

What a lovely boy, you should be really proud.

monkeyfacegrace · 12/12/2009 19:57

That is so lovely. I agree wih SM, I think you should give him some pocket money back, to show him that you are proud, and that when you do kind things you get kindness in return.
Well done for bringing up a lovely child.

YouKnowStuffingIsForLunch · 12/12/2009 19:57

scottishmummy, already done

Definitely an action that needed reward.

I couldn't be more proud of him!
