isn't the bonniest, that I could really get those hips working in my favour?

lol at eyebrow maintenance!!!

Hopefully not in a George Michael way, yuk at men who pluck in the middle so they look really 'maintained'.

They are kinda sparse, maybe filled with a little mascara?

TeamEdward - spot on - kept wondering who he reminded me of - of course!!!

Bet you'd never find Rob Brydon/Anton and Ben Miller in the same room either.

I reckon Brian hops on and off the bus. He strikes me as being one of those any port in a storm types.

Vincent and Rachel were twins separated at birth though weren't they? So that would be veh incestuous and he'd get kicked off any bus.

I think as an all round person Darren is Mr Normal and Nice with Ian a close second (whether he's on the bus or not)

I generally loathe all the Mrs Strictlys with the exception of Lilia who has a spare tyre and therefore joins my Normal Human Sized Women club with Alesha and her thighs.

I think James made Ola out of sticky-back plastic and has a cupboard full of them at home. Here's one I made earlier.

He looks a bit like someones shoved Boyzone's Keith Duffy in a boil wash

Bucharest · 23/11/2009 16:15

Now I've spit my tea on the keyboard, again.

fartmeistergeneral · 23/11/2009 19:53

He doesn't look too bad here, although I think the monobrow has been tamed somewhat for the photo.

monobrow-less

Looking at fartmeister's link has made me think that the issue is not with his eyebrows at all, but with his nose. He looks better in photos that are taken from a higher angle or where he has tucked his chin down. He's much too nostrily in an ordinary photo.

Bucharest · 24/11/2009 08:56

It's his whole head shape.
Looks like his head never remoulded into a proper shape after a long transit down Mrs Fortuna's fanjo. It's that Uncle Fester overhanging brow thing, rather than the hair on the brow.

sticktoyourgins · 24/11/2009 11:30

Here's what Brian's mother has to say about some of the comments she has read about her son's appearence (and other's looks) on UK forums.

"Take looks. Looks are important. Sometimes a person is just very beautiful. Sometimes they live with a feature that is considered to be unattractive and worthy of criticism. Sometimes people use make-up to masque the feature, or sometimes they resort to surgery like nose jobs and breast implants. Either way, I think that picking on a single feature and attaching sinister adjectives to that feature is completely obnoxious. I try not to say too much about people's bodies or faces even though comments on clothing for special occasions and comments on dance technique and shapes are hard for me to contain. My desktop photo for Oct is a Christmas picture with four long-time friends, Monica, Sue, me, Sr. Anne. Monica and Sue look like Italian princesses between me and Sr. Anne, the Irish lassies. That's about as close to a racial designation I would go and as close to a comment about my thoughts about anyone's looks that I would admit. How does anyone feel comfortable/justified saying the things I hear and read that are so derogatory the comments seem to be deliberate efforts to be demeaning? And what is the point of that? Is there a point? So let's say someone has three or four missing teeth, and droopy eyes, and a crooked mouth. Will I say this person is mean or maybe a deamon? Let's say someone has a receding chin; will I say this person is a weakling? Let's say someone has a sloping, low forehead; will I say this person is an imbecile? Of course not. I don't expect other people to do that either. But they do. Is it becasue they are uneducated and do not understand the perceived connections between genetic features and personality are bullshit? Is it because their own physical features are so completely perfect? Probably not. Is it because their own physical features are completely imperfect that they project their self-consciousness onto the person being criticized and demeaned?

I have enjoyed watching the stories and journies of the SCD dancers, but when I scroll through different sites and read some of the things people write about the dancers I feel bad for them and I realize that with all the beauty all the wonderful benefits and fun of this dance show are just a glimmer of light in a confused, cruel world. The dancers on SCD are very attractive-every single one of them. They are dedicated and accomplished in life and in dancing. Their job is demanding physically, emotionally and creatively. None of them deserve as much criticism as they get".

Molesworth · 24/11/2009 11:44

Haha excellent thread

The thing with Bri's brows is that they go right down to his eyelashes. He and Ali are extraordinarily dull (try reading him on Twitter ... yawn).

Molesworth Jnr says that Brian resembles a blowfish: his head suddenly inflates when the camera is on him, which explains why his features appear curiously stretched (eyes on side of head, enormous nostrils etc)

Bucharest · 24/11/2009 12:38

Bit defensive then, old Mrs F.

I don't see where anyone has said he's a knob because he's weird looking......

VerityBrulee · 24/11/2009 13:33

at this thread, has brought a smile to my swine flu infested life.

dd thinks brian looks like Mickey Mouse.

Ian is my favourite, although he has a season ticket for the bus!

cornflakemum · 24/11/2009 13:52

Poor Mrs F

I can't believe any one of us wouldn't be at least as defensive if someone was being so rude critical of our own child's looks....

Looks aside, I think everyone is in agreement about the fact that he's a very talented individual! (Did anyone read the resume?)

fartmeistergeneral · 24/11/2009 17:41

Ach we're only joshing!

We're none of us oil paintings!

OP posts:
forehead · 24/11/2009 17:54

We are only having a laugh and a lot of women think he is really attractive(INCLUDING ME)
Apparently he does a lot of work for disabled children and he is obviously a nice man. I do think that Mrs F is naive, if she thinks that people will not comment on her son's looks after all, he is in the public eye.

Does anyone think that Brian has read this thread? I hope not

Jamieandhismagictorch · 24/11/2009 19:28

Actually, joshing aside (his eyes are extremely wide-set, and that is either attractive or alien-like depending how you look at it), I find any man who can dance very attractive.

Adam Cooper (ballet dancer) Mmmmmmmmmm

Actually, LeQueen the fact that you have posted that Brian Fortuna is "peculiar looking" does make you bitchy. There is no point in making such an observation unless you enjoy being malicious.

And those of you who think you're just having a bit of "fun" ... imagine if a MNetter were to start a thread saying how upset she was that her son's appearence was the subject of a thread full of unpleasant, cruel remarks. You'd all be screaming about what a bunch of bitches they were and how they should be ashamed of themselves.

cornflakemum · 24/11/2009 21:44

Well... although he started out as 'Bendy Brian' to me and the family, this thread has actually endeared me to him more.... I've now read his website and his resume, and foudn out all about his work for charideeeee etc...

You know, what, Brian (and Mrs F......)

"You're my favourite...." (said in a Bruce-y voice)

Oblomov · 25/11/2009 12:33

stick-to-your-guns, get off your high horse. I disagree with Brians mum. when someone becomes famous they are going to be discusssed. Julia Hollander chooses to write a book about her SN daughter, she will be discussed. Jordan , will be discussed.
Besides, I think this thread is very tame. I think all the dancers are talented. I am highly educated. Brian is my favourite. I think he is a fab dancer. I find him very attractive. But yes I think he is odd/unusual looking. Mind you I have odd taste in men - I like big funny men - Phil Jupitus and Peter Kay. Plus, I myself am very odd looking. Not ugly. But not pretty. Not a problem to me !!

itshouldntbethishard · 25/11/2009 12:41

I am at this thread - classic but I think Brian Fortuna looks like JOhn Barrowman's annoyingly little brother.
