those on benefits
single mothers
drug addicts who manage to function and not live in a shanty..

If you feel that you are superior and deserve more, and get the ache when the above people can cobble together enough to get by on, if that pisses you off, then de-register and go and pollute some other forum, cos this used to be a good one where this kind of toxic mindset was very rare.

Thank you.

snurk
I am in 2 of those categories. Do I get a bonus point if I take up smack?!?

SerendipitousHarlot · 19/11/2009 17:23

Only if you get laminate flooring put in lankyalto

Their kind aren't allowed laminate flooring. They should just have some straw.

Pikelit · 19/11/2009 17:23

Good points. Well made.

tvaerialmagpiebin · 19/11/2009 17:25

Damn I have carpet. Back to the hovel with me.

southeastastra · 19/11/2009 17:26

isn't it better to argue the points with them though?

guess it's easier to start nasty copycat threads so people can wallow in their own smugness.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 19/11/2009 17:26

Too bloody right.

Tortington · 19/11/2009 17:27

i am astounded at this thread.

that someone cannot post about their three headed teenage peado neighbours is disgusting

MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 17:28

me too lankyalto. I'm not a drug addict, but I wouldn't get any joy out of realising there is one group at least on mn that I can look down on. So much blardy begrudgery on mn lately.

A lot of people will never enjoy what they have, no matter what they have if they're too busy being pissed off that somebody 'less deserving' (says who) up the road has the same.

Enjoy it if it's what you wanted.

aww come on now ladies, we've had our fun, enoughs enough

MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 17:30

am I smug southeastastra?

NO. I'm not. I have nothing to be smug about. To be honest I'm in a state of perpetual humbledness.

I wouldn't ever want to dehumanise anybody because they were less well off. So much of what any of us have is luck.

OP posts:
MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 17:31

ps, southeastastra, possibly these threads are harder to bear when you're on benefits or a single mother yourself. Probably is easier to let it slide off when you're not actually in one of the groups being maligned (over and over and over again)

OP posts:
Tortington · 19/11/2009 17:31

it could be YOUUUUUUUUUUUU

tvaerialmagpiebin · 19/11/2009 17:34

Deffo, Maggie. I would never ever choose to be in this position, trying to exist on a fixed income, not having the heating on or eating a cooked meal more than every other day because I cannot afford to. Someone berated me for having an internet connection the other day despite me pointing out that it was paid for by my parents as my only luxury.

But hey, I'm off to grovel a bit more

HerBeatitude · 19/11/2009 17:39

They won't piss off to another forum, they're here now.

But oh god they are so naff aren't they? I couldn't even be bothered to click on that thread, I can read the Sun or the Daily Mail or talk to my mother for that sort of thing.

posieparker · 19/11/2009 17:44

What about the immigrants?

chegirl · 19/11/2009 17:47

They are already on other forums. They may express themselves with a few more huns and !!! but they are there...

They are farkin everywhere.

So much envy and so much knowledge of the intimate details of stranger's financial doings.

Where do they get their information?

MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 17:51

phew... thought I was just going to be hung over the thread about a thread business, which i know is bad netiquette, so sorry for that. But, it wasn't a dig at any one OP. I just realised that these threads used to be rare and there's one a day.

"isn't it better to argue the points with them though?

People have been arguing the points with these people though. Don't blame anyone for trying to get some fun out of it, rather than constantly defending themselves.

ZZZenAgain · 19/11/2009 17:54

This business about it not being MN etiquette to post a thread about a thread I always find a bit daft. I know it's always being bandied about but I mean says who? Is this written somewhere in the Rules Of Mumsnet?

MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 17:55

exactly, arguing the points with them doesn't work. As that is mere reason, mere compassion for fellow man and that counts for jackshit when "dh and I pay our taxes".

don't allow these views to be 'normalised'.

OP posts:
JemL · 19/11/2009 17:56

Don't forget, "People who live in social housing and are therfore presumed to be on benefts and if they're not, they should give up their homes, and if they are, why should they have TV's / Wii's / running water"

Arguing with them doesn't do any good. Nor does suggesting that if it is indeed possible to live a life of luxury on benefits, do they not give up their jobs and get claiming?!

ZZZenAgain · 19/11/2009 17:57

quite like the phrase "grandiose sense of entitlement"

I think I should get one of those

chegirl · 19/11/2009 17:59

Many people who actually live in social housing can point out that the OPs in these threads are very much mistaken and it makes no difference.

Arguing is very difficult if you get no response to 'difficult' questions.

southeastastra · 19/11/2009 18:00

'them' and 'these' people. ffs you sound like the 'sort' you're complaining about

MaggiePie · 19/11/2009 18:00

that's not quite right though, it's more like a gargantuan sense of begrudgery.
