AIBU?

To want to strangle people that keep asking me "Is the baby here yet?!"

AHHHH

Its driving me absolutely bonkers. I know I should be greatful that people care etc, but UGH. One friend is texting me EVERY DAY to ask if I'm having contractions. Surely people realise that I will actually let them know when he arrives??

Admittedly I might just be very very hormonal right now, but am only 38+3, and all I keep thinking is that I could possibly have three weeks plus of this!!

At the time I thought it was hilarious. Labour seems to bring out my dark side. I was stuck on the induction ward watching women come & go a la Rachel in Friends. This one rather cheerful Pollyanna type in the bed opposite squealed & announced "oooh my waters have just broken" I was so jealous I rather loudly proclaimed "OOH FFS I HOPE THEY BLOODY DROWN YOU, WHY ISNT IT ME? WHY OH WHY?!" for about 10 minutes.

Apparently DP had to apologise to the girl & her partner

God I hope I never meet you when you're in labour That's fantastic... I wonder what beautities I will come out with...

The day we found out, I meekly followed DP to Tesco as we got another two tests - to be sure, even though I had already taken three... - and a bottle of vodka. He then pushed in front of a couple in the queue, and when I said to him, "Sweetie, there are people waiting..." He said, "They can wait, then, can't they." He went off to get something else and I apologised very quickly to the couple, who were lovely. The man nodded understandingly and said "I saw the test. Don't worry." I don't know if that made me feel worse or not!!!

OH NOooo!! This has reminded me of my poor behaviour... My close friend's due date was yesterday... But I've texted her every day for the last 2 weeks.

I'm ashamed (But I'm just soooo excited for her). I should know better both my DC were over a week late so know what's like to be sat waiting and waiting.

Erika in your honour I shall not text for the next hour day.

Sorry to all harrased due babies and mums.

flee I am impressed you posted that although you will probably be quickly forgiven by your friend.

Another horrid one is when you phone the person who is looking after your other dc and you can hear the excitement in their voice and then the disappointed reply when you ask to borrow some sugar or whatever the call was about.

I used to feel so guilty my mum would try to hide it too but you can tell. I stopped calling her eventually.

Its nice that you're so excited though (but it is bloody annoying )

Wait til you are overdue and THEN see how much it pisses you off!
It really annoyed me too, but then I find myself doing exactly the dsame with others. Its just nice everyone is so excited, but it is the beginning of a long list of very annoying interferences in the life of you, your DH and baby (after the baby is born the endless visits at completely CRAP times of the day are the worst!).

Slushy you are so right about the person looking after your other DC. My mum said to me, when I was overdue with DC2, 'I just hope it doesn't come on Thursday as your Dad's working and the car's going in for it MOT!'.
Must try to ensure body works to my mums schedule next time!

I think you are being a little bit hormonal. People are just curious, they don't do it to upset you deliberately!
Just grab the opportunity to start moaning about minor pg discomforts. That'll teach them

Oh I know they're not delibrately trying to upset me, its just getting a bit annoying Feel better having got it all out

Is this aimed at us?? When are you having Colin, you've been pregnant for aaaaagggggggeeeeesssss.

I do this. I am annoying friend. But I'm a bit more subtle, I send texts that say things like, "You OK?"

People are just excited for you! In my defence, I had an ELCS last time, and will this time as well, so I find the 'waiting to go into labour' anticipation ridiculously exciting, and live vicariously through my pg friends.

Pinkjenny maybe that's part of it. I'm the first one from everyone I know to have a baby...

You know what else is really annoying? People calling your baby Colin a different name when you've decided on one He feels like an octopus, seems to be able to kick and punch everywhere at once...

I remember when my best friend got pg, she was the first one to have a baby in our circle... I kept telling her it looked as if she'd have been pregnant for yrs . I couldn't wait to see her baby!
