to think that people claiming that BNP voters aren't racists are being disingenuous?

I don't get the argument "that these people aren't racist, but they vote just BNP".

For me, If you vote BNP, you are a racist. I know this is guilt by association but I think it's fair. What's more, making excuses for those who choose to support these hatemongers makes it more acceptable for them to do so.

I know I wouldn't vote for a party when I didn't know their policies and if I did, I'd feel pretty ashamed that I voted without bothering to find out. To be honest, anyone who votes for the BNP and claims that didn't realise they'd just cosied up to facists needs to give up voting for good.

Skater I was shocked to see NG condemn islam for womens rights and no one tackle his views on rape.

Tortington · 23/10/2009 12:41

DP you are so funny

MrsSpider · 23/10/2009 12:42

Limbergse,

Yes, they probably should. Surely if you move abroad it should be with a intention of fully becoming part of the nation you have joined. Where a problem arises is when either the indigenous population or the incoming community choose to shut themselves off.

I have just re-read AliGrylls post and feel comelled to defend some 'low-paid' industries.

Some business pay what they can afford. They are not mega-bucks, but I think a salary of £16K a year at age 22 isn't that bad. You won't get rich, but if you are unqualified for 'better' things, you take more menial jobs. However, I have encountered qualified accountants and chemists from India doing 'menial' work to support their families back home. They are not being exploited - they are fulfilling a need in British industries that many indiginous Britons feel is beneath them. Despite the fact that they left school without qualifications at 15 and haven't worked since (trust me, I've seen enough of those). Immigrants aren't 'taking British jobs' - they're taking jobs in Britain because of a shortage of willing labour.

I was screeching 'None of the major world religions have got a great track record as far as women's rights are concerned' at the telly.

The ancestry question is interesting.

If (say) America, Australia and NZ were to send everyone 'home' who was not pure blood American etc, those countries would be empty and Britain and the rest of Europe would sink into the sea with the weight of returning immigrants.

But presumably it's OK for British people to be economic migrants - the receiving countries should be grateful for such an injection of entrepreneurialism, grit and general wonderfulness.

NickNemo · 23/10/2009 12:44

So, daftpunk, define British.

Because, as far as I can see, I have a certificate that tells me I am now a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Does that make me British or not?

daftpunk · 23/10/2009 12:44

thanks custy...wish i could compliment you back....but i'm finding it hard...

TanyaBranning · 23/10/2009 12:46

Tortington · 23/10/2009 12:46

Riven...the BNP are not anti-women....

didn't you watch QT last night..?

Tortington · 23/10/2009 12:48

tanyabranning - yes i think the muslim conservative lady on QT really missed a trick when it came to NG spouting about the Koran stoning raped women.

someone shuld have chimed in about all religeons having redic things in their holy books

Tortington · 23/10/2009 12:49

dp if you did a little research with an open mind you will find that the BNP are specacularly anti women.

GrimmaTheNome · 23/10/2009 12:49

Of course all the major parties talk about immigration, and have policies on it - (just for an e.g. [[http://www.conservatives.com/Policy/Where_we_stand/Immigration.aspx here's the tories])

The difference between them and the BNP is that it isn't all they talk about.

chickydee · 23/10/2009 12:49

How many of you have read and understand the BNP policies? I bet your all jumping up and down now claiming " i dont want to read that filth" but that then makes you equally ignorant as you claim their members and voters to be.
The issues of racism are, mainly, over blown by media hype, the BNP are more nationalist than racist, altho there are a ceratin amount, sadly, of members who were part of the NF and will always be racists.
Labour and tory both have disgusting members of parliament who have been found guilty of child abuse, theft, rape etc, and yet people will still vote for these parties as they come across as the party of the people.

I think, as well, to actaully stop being freinds with someone, purely because you find out they are a a meber of the BNP is incredibly narrow minded and ignorant.
Some people join purely because they want this country to become ours again, and for the idiocy to stop. The fact that we now have to accept parts of Sharia law as OUR law, for THIS country is only one of many many points that the BNP would fight against.

Nick Griffin being on QT has actually given the BNP some precious airtime, publicity and their membership list WILL increase because of it, and the main thing that everyone seems to have is fear, but fear of the unknown and the media hype more than the reality.

I was thinking last night - my DD looks white, although her father is black. Griffin would never know she is half Jamaican. Could she join the BNP? I mean, would she have been able to join the BNP before their pathetically hasty turnaround on party membership? Would they have done a search on her family background? Genetic testing? I doubt it.

Delighted to see the BNP are now welcomign me with open arms, too. I'm of Irish parentage. We were all IRA bastards 10 yrs ago. Now we are welcome to join. Gee, thanks!

alana39 · 23/10/2009 12:50

In that article "Mr Eriksen also wrote...that mothers "should never go out to work" and described career women as "unnatural and vile... it is a strange kind of woman who would want to invest [her] energies into her job rather than into a man."

If women didn't go out to work at all wouldn't some of our jobs have to be done by immigrants? Can't imagine there are enough suitably qualified white men to take it all on.

Ivykaty44 · 23/10/2009 12:50

**All the main political parties are racist in that they all seek to limit immigration. These policies have public support, and the alternative of saying that anyone that wants to come to Britain to be allowed to do so would be thought mad by most.
**

racist is against colour, not all immigrants are the same colour or from the same country - although they will all be not british passport holders that is not surely being racist.

I don't have any problems with immigration at all (I think boarded lines of a country are rather strange, but thats another story) - but was surprised to see it labeled as racist?

Willing to have someone explain this

Tortington · 23/10/2009 12:50

there is a quote about rape below which could further lead you to research further.

GrimmaTheNome · 23/10/2009 12:51

NG saying on QT that they aren't anti women doesn't make the BNP anti women. Its their policies that do that.
