Quelle surprise- it's in the Daily Hate, and surely represents a new low? What a nasty piece of writing- shame on you, Jan Moir!

It's not THAT bad. It's the MAIL, everything is like this. She's saying that choking on your own vomit while your husband is shagging someone else isn't very nice dear, in Daily Mail language. If it was in the Guardian then you'd have a point...

foxinsocks · 16/10/2009 14:18

she doesn't only write for the Mail (telegraph and guardian from what I remember)

I've never liked her stuff. She always writes deliberately to antagonise people. Not clever at all.

foxinsocks · 16/10/2009 14:19

oh no morningpaper, it is bad. It is utterly horrific. Her paragraphs towards the end are totally homophobic.

MrsChemist · 16/10/2009 14:19

Half a euro says that if she tries to defend her words, it will include the lines "I'm not a homophobe, but..." and/or "I've got lots of gay friends."

Nancy66 · 16/10/2009 14:22

Shit....even I'm shocked. And I work for them.

At least the DM website is printing all the outraged comments.

minouminou · 16/10/2009 14:29

And...I've also known someone to die from sudden adult death syndrome, and a distant relative of DP died from it 7 or 8 years ago.
Even if his death was aided by drink/drugs, I really don't think his gayness/marital status/sexual proclivities have anything to do with it....how many other people have died in similar circumstances?
God I hate this woman.

flimflammum · 16/10/2009 14:34

quote: Gately's family have always maintained that drugs were not involved in the singer's death, but it has just been revealed that he at least smoked cannabis on the night he died.
Nevertheless, his mother is still insisting that her son died from a previously undetected heart condition that has plagued the family.

Since when has smoking cannabis made anyone die of pulmonary oedema?

This 'article'is just a load of speculation and prejudice, dressed up as investigative journalism. If it turns out he did die of a heart condition, will Jan Moir print a full page apology to his family and partner?

GrimmaTheNome · 16/10/2009 14:35

I think/hope morningpaper was being ironic...that it IS bad but, well, thats what you get in the DM.

I expect the so-called journalist was only sorry there was no racist element to bring in other than maybe a slight anti eastern european hint.

LadyoftheBathtub · 16/10/2009 14:36

What a bitchy article. But worse than that, just factually wrong as young men do keel over and die just like that.

The stuff about gay marriage is especially nasty - a relationship is a relationship, they are not perfect and they are not all the same, as everybody knows. Gay ones should have no more scrutiny or expectation of being perfect and squeaky-clean than any other type.

GrimmaTheNome · 16/10/2009 14:36

A full page apology plus her resignation letter, I would hope. Unless the DM and anywhere else she writes fires her first.

bibbitybobbityCAT · 16/10/2009 14:37

We very sadly know that fit young men in their 30s do die suddenly in their sleep, as this is what happened to Yorkiegirl's dh .

VivClicquot · 16/10/2009 14:38

Don't just vent on here - complain to the PCC. She's in breach of 1,3,5 & 12 of the code.

potplant · 16/10/2009 14:40

I see they have now toned down the headline:

A strange, lonely and troubling death . .

DarrellRivers · 16/10/2009 14:44

In some ways, dying aged 33 is not natural.
Childen shouldn't die before their parents, it is not the way that life should be.
I know it happens and from 'natural causes' but what an empty phrase that is.
Does nothing for the heartache that his death will bring to those who loved him

morningpaper · 16/10/2009 14:44

HAHA yes I just noticed that they have changed the headline and I'm sure they have added a couple of paragraphs toning it down

ooops

Nancy66 · 16/10/2009 14:55

Not convinced any PCC codes have been breached though.

iLikeDots · 16/10/2009 15:03

Apology needed .

Poohbearsmom · 16/10/2009 15:04

Poor stephens family this is just awful, i cant believe how desperate for money she/they r that she/they wud deliberatly set out to write/print such horrible words she/they know will hurt ppl who loved him. Fans all over the world listened to boyzone, it was part of my youth, they were the 1st concert i went to & we all felt pride for them being lovely lads & for doing gr8. Its very sad to hav all the lovely things he did in his life & the nice kind person he was being overshadowed by this womans hateful words... The night he died will always be a sad horrific event for his family, i hope ppl like this will leave them alone now to grieve in peace...

MrsChemist · 16/10/2009 15:04

Heh, there are no adverts on article anymore

FfreckleFface · 16/10/2009 15:06

Absolutely despicable.

Justifies any vitriol directed at that hideous paper.

MorrisZapp · 16/10/2009 15:16

Vile beyond words.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 16/10/2009 15:31

Daily Mail prints nasty, inaccurate article?

Well, colour me gobsmacked.

foxinsocks · 16/10/2009 19:24

I thought about this all day. I think it really crosses a line. Can't you be cautioned for being homophobic like racist taunting? Because I do think it was that bad!

ninagleams · 16/10/2009 19:32

The radio told me that M&S have asked for their advert to be withdrawn from the DM site because they don't want to be linked to discrimination! Whoop!
