without any apparent recognition that it was their revered leader (Thatcher for anyone too young to remember) who was a major cause of the breakdown? I know it's an improvement on there is no such thing as society but it still annoys me.

"why your husband can't support his family on one wage without you having to put your hand out"

Did I miss where that was from?

Oh I agree. Because I'm a girl, and I don't want to work, just stay at home and iron the Daily Telegraph.

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:26

Whweew - so don't vote at all. Or vote green, or the fairy party. But NEVER Tory.

WhereYouLeftIt · 07/10/2009 14:30

hullygully - and who died and made you God?

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:32

I made myself. I am Ra.

tethersend · 07/10/2009 14:34

I'm voting for hullygully

WhereYouLeftIt · 07/10/2009 14:34
Grin
hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:37

Thank you Tether. I will shortly be launching a website to collect donations for my new party: The Ra Ras. We shall largely be campaigning on a platform with a guillotine.

Pikelit · 07/10/2009 14:37

Ahem! I have never been anyone's secretary!!
Which probably makes my fall from grace all the more unforgiveable.

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:38

Off with your head.

preciouslillywhite · 07/10/2009 14:39

hullygully make sure you give us the link as soon as you do it

(I nominate self to be one of those crones sat at the foot of the guillotine, knitting)

vive Robespierre!

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:40

I'm afraid knitting has been outlawed by health and safety.

preciouslillywhite · 07/10/2009 14:43

Tsk. I suppose you'll be telling me I have to get rid of my clay pipe as well any minute?

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:47

I'm afraid so, in fact to be on the safe side we'd better get rid of you. Off with your head.

preciouslillywhite · 07/10/2009 14:49

Hold on, can I do a speech first?

...tis a far far better thi

hullygully · 07/10/2009 14:50

All speeches are banned..ahhhgh, a head has rolled onto my foot.

PeachyTentativelyPosting · 07/10/2009 15:06

'There are lots of people who've lost their jobs or who are having to choose wether to heat or eat right now.'that's us, redundancy victims

And you know what- we'll vote labour for the first time ever!

becuase what you nedd when things are a bit rough isn't a change of regime, or compelte turnabout of the benefits culture

It's a period of stability, sometime for people to get back on their feet (And the vast majority will, most people do want to woprk whatever the crappress say) under a system that doesn't assume they are scum as opposed to a bit down on their luck

I ahve asked Dh to shoot me if I ever vote Tory, on the grounds that I either have rabies or have been taken over by demons.

PeachyTentativelyPosting · 07/10/2009 15:09

And the worst thing about teh current system is that honest people won't touch it with the proverbial

As a child my dream was politics- I know i'd have been a good egg but there's no chance I would ever fit in with that culture and I am not slimy enough for parliament it would seem

So I backed out of my local nomination and took up MN instead, you meet brighter people here anyway

MissM · 07/10/2009 15:10

Hurrah! I finally get round to getting on with my work and when I return the thread has become fun again. Political ranting and much jesting hurrah!

And hurrah for Peachy too! Maggie Maggie Maggie...erm...(wrong decade).

PS Have you banned long curly wigs too hg?

hullygully · 07/10/2009 15:11

No, in fact they are now obligatory, as are white tights and funny little shoes with buckles. We are going to bring a bit of style back to the whole affair.

hullygully · 07/10/2009 15:12

Peachy - we may be able to offer you a marginal.

PeachyTentativelyPosting · 07/10/2009 15:36

Can it be a amrginal with a alrge WC pop please? Fight for me own and all that LOL

(Quite fancy Port Talbot or Bridgwater if they're free? Up the revolution (but a nice one with scones and no gallows please)
