to have worn the same jeans for 4 days running...

...and wondering if I can get away with wearing them again tomorrow.

I have hardly any clothes that fit (recently lost 2 stone and cant afford much new) and my 6 year old Levis finally fit. My first day off work (Wed) I wore them - they have no dirty marks or stains on them, and I have worn them every day since without washing them. Am now wondering if I can get away with wearing them tomorrow, before work Monday. Its horrible washing/drying weather at the moment, so surely if they are cleanish I can get away with wearing them?!

AIBU?

Look, once the crotch smells of farmyards, bin 'em! Seemples!

fishflange · 03/10/2009 21:08

I only have 2 pairs of jeans (no other trousers/bottoms wotsoever apart from jamas
am I a) thrifty b) completely skanky or c) both?
Last night I met a friend I hadn't seen for 6 years. Was a little embarassing when her cat started licking all the dried up food on me pants.

scottishmummy · 03/10/2009 21:12

have loadsof jeans,bootkick,slouchy,posh,skinny, ach loads

Wonderstuff · 03/10/2009 21:13

I wear clothes until they are dirty or smell. I always seem to have mountains of washing, can't believe people wash trousers after one day! Only time I do this is when I spill my dinner

I've just worn a hole in my favorite jeans I never used to wear out clothes when I was working full time.

isittooearlyforgin · 03/10/2009 21:14

fishflange for both name and post!!

petetong · 03/10/2009 21:14

Yuck, sorry but anything around the crotch area should be washed daily.

SolidGoldBrass · 03/10/2009 21:18

My mother, who is the most compulsively houseproud clean freak in the world, once bollocked me for expecting trousers to be washed afte 2 days. So I routinely wear mine for 4-5 days unless I have AF-accident, spill something on myself or get outrageously overexcited at something on Youtube. Otherwise, I can get a couple of days out of most tops unless it's very hot, clean socks and pants every day.
(Can't pronounce on bra-changing as I don't wear one).

smokinaces · 03/10/2009 21:21

talking of bras - how often do people change them then?

someone last week told me they wore a new bra and knickers every day.

I change my knickers every day, but am lucky to remember to chuck my bras in the wash once a fortnight (have 2 or 3 I rotate depending on outfit)

I am so glad I am not alone with the jean wearing for days - if only the kids didnt get filthy dirty everyday so I could make them wear the same clothes more than one day too!

washing bras reduces their lifespan. my excuse and i'm sticking to it.

isittooearlyforgin · 03/10/2009 21:24

bras until they are no longer fit for polite society, knickers once a day ( what do you take me for?), jeans - usually get completely trashed before they need changig for sanitary reasons, t-shirt once a day - am i a heathen?

Wonderstuff · 03/10/2009 21:24

Sniff test for bras, get washed on day 3 or when they fail which ever is soonest. Someone on here had an excellent system where they washed their bra in the shower each morning - amazing multitasking.

scottishmummy · 03/10/2009 21:24

change bra and chuddies daily
handwash my bra's

southeastastra · 03/10/2009 21:26

i wore a jumper for a whole 2 days last week, then put it back in the wardrobe

mwff · 03/10/2009 21:30

i wash running bra in shower every time, that one doesn't pass sniff test, others last frankly for months am clearly super fragrant/non sweaty

Clary · 03/10/2009 21:30

shocked at anyone wearing trousers or skirts or cardies once and then wash.

Not sure about 5 days for jeans tho - mine seem to go a bit manky smelling by day 3 tbh. Maybe I am a bit unclean

I got three loads of washing dry today - imagine the mahoosive pile if it was a worn once then wash deal here

Bras wear 2-3 times btw. Wash by hand as well it;s better for them (mine cost £££ due to weird 32G size).

mwff · 03/10/2009 21:31

at putting back in wardrobe yeuch (tbh i have a towel rail thing i hang worn stuff on, prefer not to put back if poss)

Clary · 03/10/2009 21:33

mwff what do you mean yeauch at putting back in wardrobe?

If it;s clean enough to wear then why not put it back? If it's not clean enough for wardrobe or drawers, then it needs washing I would say.

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2009 21:37

My work trousers (well one pair of them) are having a bit of a treat this evening, they are in the wash. Both dh and I shower at least once daily, change underwear/shirts daily. Things like jeans, trousers, skirts I would wear up to 1-2 weeks. (not generally on consecutive days but on average I reckon about a week).

They really don't smell, honestly. Some of you must have clothes that fade very quickly. I find my jeans seem to fade fast, but if they were washed every day or two then they really would be fading away.

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 21:40

YANBU - wear jeans until they either get out of shape or spilled on or smell.

mwff · 03/10/2009 21:41

am very tongue in cheek with my yeuching. that said, i definitely have an intermediate level of clean which is fine for another wear, but risks contamination of actually clean stuff

MamaGoblin · 03/10/2009 21:48

I always enjoy being scandalised by these threads!

Those of you who wash all clothing after one wear, regardless of whether or not it's dirty or smelly, are LOONS! You must be spending a fortune in electricity and detergent, not to mention in clothes as they fade and fall apart after a few months. As for the environmental damage...

I wash my jeans when they're dirty. That might take a couple of days (depends if DS has been flicking his lunch at me), a week, or two weeks. Have never been aware of a whiffy crotch in my jeans, but I shower daily and put on clean knickers every morning, so unless I had a Complaint, I don't see why the crotch would whiff.

Bras go for at least a couple of weeks but are being rotated so not two weeks of continual wear. Tops last a day or two, depending on whether they're sweaty or DS has wiped his nose on them. I'll often wear clothing that's on the way to the laundry bin, inside the house, that I wouldn't wear to go out in - another way of saving on laundry.

Come on, don't we all do enough laundry as it is? I can't believe people want to do even more!

isittooearlyforgin · 03/10/2009 21:48

intrigued by name mwff - is it midwife abbreviation?

TrickOrNinks · 03/10/2009 21:50

I wear jeans for several days running, unless they have toddler finger-print food stains on the thighs. Why wouldn't you?

You're crackers you YABU lot you are

foxinsocks · 03/10/2009 21:51

surely that's why they made beds with posts across the end? so you can hang clothes you've worn but not quite worn till smelly on the end?

I wear jeans weekend after weekend until they are grubby tbh.

Now I know why all you lot are constantly moaning about washing so much ;-)

louii · 03/10/2009 21:53

Sure theres a song about wearing jeans for 4 days.
