People who are chemically castrated do not magically stop molesting kids. They find other ways of abusing them, often even worse.

totally agree drlove. i dont think these people can be rehabilitated, and therefore should not be released from prison, but then the prison becomes jammed full of people who you can't release then what?

Surely what we need to do is address why people get like this. Do we really think that child abusers just materialise out of thin air and do sick things just for the sheer hell of it. I may be very naive but isn't it true that most abusers have been abused themselves. They have no real idea of what consititues normal physical behaviour because they have experienced the opposite.

Not for a moment am I condoning what they do, not at all. But just whacking them full of hormones isn't going to solve it, or stop them abusing in other ways, as other posters have said.

I don't claim to have the answers. And thank God my child has not suffered like the ones at the nursery in Plymouth.

not all abuse victims turn abuser and its an insult to those who have survived abuse.
i think it particuarly disgusting as it only goes to verify that the abusers who claim this , are abusing with the full knowledge of what they are doing to their victims , yet have no empathy toward them.

The answer is.

Don't let people out of prison/secure hospitals until there are a whole stack of people willing to guarantee on their lives professional repuatations that there is absolutely no chance of reoffending.

This should be the case with all sexual predators/extremely violent people.

Why they let them out to do it again is beyond me.

Physical castration, tattoo on forehead, and large doses of heavy duty medication.

And tag them, not just a normal tag but a deeply implanted impossible to get out tag, so all futrue movements can be monitored.

Or the public could just be informed of local abusers.

Cruel & Unusual punishment is the way to go. Public stoning is what is needed. These animals can't be allowed back into our society. The money that would have been spent on keeping them in prison, should be redirected into child protection, therapy for victims, and to find more of these animals.
