i dont think this is such a problem with funny or chat style threads but when people are asking for help i find this really unacceptable!

Well this winds me up on AIBU- usually on the ones where the OP comes back after 3 or more posts to say yes, sorry IABU and then gets another 200 posts of a telling off

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2009 16:51

oh sorry, just realised this is probably a thread about a thread, haven't seen the original

LaurieFairyCake · 27/09/2009 16:53

yes, that's what we all need - more regulation.

I'm sick of the 'should's' on this board.

read it - don't read it, who gives a fuckity fuck wank.

pointydoug · 27/09/2009 16:55

agre ewith laurie

franklymydear · 27/09/2009 16:55

I read a question I answer it - I don't read 50 replies to find out what other people think. I answer it and then if I'm interested I'll go back and skim-read the other answers.

pointydoug · 27/09/2009 16:55

beautifully put

pointydoug · 27/09/2009 16:56

laurie's beautifully put, frank's sensibly put

CNyle · 27/09/2009 16:57

oh no i like to post on the basis of NO information at all

pointydoug · 27/09/2009 17:00

I like to spend as much time as poss posting and as little as poss reading

BedofRosesItAintII · 27/09/2009 17:01

Sometimes the thread is sooo long that if I were to read all the replies I would be reading 7+ pages (I have other things to do ya know!)

So I read the OP and post my opinion.

ShrinkingViolet · 27/09/2009 17:04

haven't read the replies, but I think you are BU.

ShrinkingViolet · 27/09/2009 17:04
Wink
RustyBear · 27/09/2009 17:05

I don't always read the thread all the way through if I'm on my phone because a long one tends to take ages to load & scroll down, but when I'm on the laptop I usually like to read it all.

i get that this is often a piss taking site... i get that it is not practicle to read 50 or so replys... ok so in this i am poss being unreasonable BUT to not bother to read a serious plea for help and make sweeping ill concidered replies is not ok IMO AND i accept that more regulation is not useful and i would be against such regulation myself i do feel common sense/ empathy etc is missing and IMO this is sad

OP posts:
pigletmania · 27/09/2009 17:12

YABU,yes you have to read the post but why should you go through reems and reems of replys we are busy mums you know.

pigletmania · 27/09/2009 17:13

Anyway the poster is asking us of our opinions not our opinions of other peoples opions if you get what i mean.

freyski · 27/09/2009 17:22

I dont get it. If someone is asking for help and you think you can help, you help. Why do you need to read what everyone else has said?

TanteRose · 27/09/2009 17:24

piglet is right - OP, get over yourself already....
I think there is shed-loads of common sense/empathy on MN...

laweaselmys · 27/09/2009 17:25

I find it more annoying when the thread is less than a page long and still nobody can be bothered to read that the OP changed their mind...

BosomForAPillow · 27/09/2009 17:31

I'm a person who usually reads reams and reams of replies...and then I don't post myself.
If it's a short thread I might post.
But usually I'd say I read about 20 threads a day and only post a couple of times a week.

scottishmummy · 27/09/2009 17:33

thanks for drawing our attention to what you find "really unacceptable"

gosh,it really matters doesn't it.one of life's ethical quandary

alwayslookingforanswers · 27/09/2009 17:36

who gives a shit?? (apart from you?)

BitOfFun · 27/09/2009 17:45

I see I've been beaten to the obvious smart-arse reply
Just ignore any replies you don't agree with- most OPs do.

BiancaJackson · 27/09/2009 17:46

Havent read the whole thread. Couldnt be arsed. YABU.
