To have bought yet another buggy ............???

When I was pregnant with DS2, I bought a Graco Travel System as I had had one with DS1 and loved it (incidently, nothing wrong with the original one, just wanted a new one for the new baby ).

However, 6 days after DS2 came along, DS1 started school, so along with that came the dreaded "school run". After a couple of weeks, I realised that the Graco was actually far too big for my boot & quite heavy. It was also a PITA when I went shopping with both the kids as couldn't get many bags in the boot (obviously had space on the back seat when only had 1 DS) so sold it on eBay & bought myself a second hand Bebe Confort Loola Travel System because it is a lot smaller. Now, being me, I had to have the whole works.....chassis, seat unit, car seat, car seat base, changing bag, cosy toes & carry cot, even though I didn't actually need it all !! I then proceeded to replace every single part of it for brand new and sell the second hand parts, spending a small fortune.

Anyway, after watching The Apprentice I decided that I must have the Lebruss Take Off Pushchair that was featured on one of the episodes because it folds down to hand luggage size and would therefore take up much less boot space, so I ordered one of these and sold the Loola.

Now I have decided that I made a rash decision buying the Take Off because it is actually not very comfortable for my little one, no sides and doesn't recline very far (see here ), so have decided to sell it (after only having it a few months) and have ordered a Chicco For Me Top Stroller (with matching cosy toes & change bag of course ), so.........

........AIBU or am I just obsessed ?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think buying 1 every 6 months or so is fine if it makes you happy

differentID · 18/09/2009 18:26

I work within the industry. I've known one or 2 ladies having had over 100 prams.

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 18/09/2009 18:27

Thanks ladies, you've made me feel soooooooo much better !!

By the way, DS2 was only 1 on 2nd Sept & this is now his 4th buggy, so Podrick, is one every 3 months also ok ?

Cheeky how much you looking for for the take off? I am desperate for one for our fishing trips. DS2 is 2 so that should be fine for him lol.

StrictlyAvadaKedavra · 18/09/2009 18:31

No, nothing wrong with that at all, especially as you are selling on too

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 18/09/2009 18:31

The LadyEveningStar - not really sure. It's in fab condition, as only used a couple of times a week (luckily I have help with school runs from DH & parents), and was only purchased about 3-4 months ago (if that). I paid £150 for it. I think £100 is fair.

Whereabouts are you? I am Caterham, Surrey.

I also have the Caddy Bag for it too which has never been used.

If you are interested, let me have your email address & I will send some pics if you like.

I am not trying to be mean but why are people so obsessed with buggies and prams???? They've been elevated from a simple means of transportation to a status symbol. Consumerism gone mad!

Sagacious · 18/09/2009 19:23

ds was carted around in a potato sack stapled to old go kart wheels

[old gimmer]

StrictlyAvadaKedavra · 18/09/2009 19:31

Because you don't truly find out if a pram is suitable for your needs till you try it out. And because I like them

TheLadyEvenstar · 18/09/2009 19:37

ds2 is 2 (today) so far i have had 23 3 prams/pushchairs for him

Firawla · 18/09/2009 20:00

well as you're selling them on it seems okay, otherwise i would say its a waste
i dont really get the obsession with so many dif buggies, ive only ever had one for ds and getting a new double one for ds1 and 2 to share, but if it makes you happy then its up to you what you spend your money on

fifitot · 18/09/2009 20:01

Sorry I am not being personal. I have had my own buggy envy at times so I am not immune. My sensible side just says it's a bit mad though.

I think I have sat through too many buggy conversations at playgroup!

bronze · 18/09/2009 20:02

I think you're nuts but each to their own

TheLadyEvenstar · 18/09/2009 20:06

I love my buggies lmao I have tried to set up a group kinda like the AA but BA = Buggy Anonymous

overmydeadbody · 18/09/2009 20:14

Gosh it's a bit of an obsession for some isn't it?

I'd personally say YABU, there are far more fun things to spend your money on, but your money your choice

overmydeadbody · 18/09/2009 20:19

fifi I think it is because for some women it simply replaces their 'handbag' as a sort of identity symbol once they become mums and they don't have any other hobbies

rosiest · 18/09/2009 20:23

Chunkymonkey - my ds3 is just 1 and has had 3 pushchairs so YANBU. I am also obsessed! at least yor'e selling each one - I still have all 3 for a 'choice' DH not happy about it!

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 18/09/2009 20:47

TheLadyEvenstar - Pics have been sent. Please let me know that you have received them.

Thanks for all your comments everyone, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this obsession !!

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 18/09/2009 20:49
