Oh I have. I didn't mean to be though. Not really.

You know when you have a toddler to get in a toddler seat and they are too little to get in unless the door is wide open?

The between baby and child stage where you have to sort of lift the heavy buggers into the seat and usually bang their head or something and you twist your back and it's all very awful.

BECAUSE SOME TOSSER HAS PARKED GIVING YOU NO ROOM TO OPEN THE DOOR FULLY EVEN THOUGH YOU CLEARLY HAVE A CHILD-SEAT.

Ahem.

Well I had a situation like this earlier and I did try to get DS aged 2.4 in without opening the car door fully. Then he hit his head and I lost it trying to cope with the lack of space and opened our car door.

I opened it very carefully until it got to the point where the other car was. and when I saw how little room he had given me I, er, saw red. And pushed let the door swing open with my boot reasonable force behind it.

Got DS in and went to get in myself and saw a 3cm square scrape in the twat's car next to where I had to open the back one.

Surely just one tooth falling out would be fair enough? Providing it was a front tooth? Probably cost the same to get one false tooth as to repair the damage she caused.

EvilEdnasTwinSister · 13/09/2009 15:17

Of course YABU!

Having been in your place when my DDs were younger I can see why you might have been provoked but I would be livid if I had been on the receiving end of your little tantrum.

Do you think everyone else has time to check other people's cars for child seats? Still, you know YABU so I will shut up.

SoupDragon · 13/09/2009 15:17

Actually, I don't hope your teeth fall out in the night, I hope someone deliberately whacks a dent in your door and then leaves without owning up because it's horrible when it happens to you.

plonker · 13/09/2009 15:29

I can't believe how many of you think this is a reasonable thing to do!

What a disgraceful way to behave. How far up your own arse have you got to be to think that everyone else is thinking of you and your difficulties. You haven't got a clue whether the other driver was being deliberately inconsiderate or not, you OTOH have deliberately vandalised someone elses property. Disgusting.

Of course YABU OP, but at least you have got the good grace to realise it ...

I wish your teeth no ill though ...

Quattrocento · 13/09/2009 15:31

Not even a molar? Come on, the very least she deserves is a molar falling out tomorrow morning ...

diddl · 13/09/2009 15:33

But OP, you did mean to do it as you deliberately kicked the car.

I asked previously, but was given no answer.
Was the car within the white lines?

Also, if you weren´t in a designated parent/child place, it´s never wide enough to open doors fully.

Ninks · 13/09/2009 16:29

Right, it was more of a frustrated thud with the door. I had been trying to wedge DS in, hurting both of us in the process. I didn't kick it into the other car, (was a bit drunk last night and don't know why I mentioned my boot) BUT I did get fed up trying to be considerate of the other car and finally lost it, opening the door and letting it knock non-gently against it.

There were lots of other marks like the one I made so he either doesn't care or hasn't figured out why he keeps getting them.

And I am a size 12. How much weight would you like me to lose, BradfordMum?

Anyway, you will all be overjoyed to hear that I damaged my car door earlier doing exactly the same thing but this time against a pillar in the car park What goes around does indeed come around!

Ninks · 13/09/2009 16:36

Sorry didl - it was sort of on the line but with the arse hanging over to our side at the back. So slanted, decreasing the space available.

AvengingGerbil · 13/09/2009 16:50

Not only unreasonable, but also criminal damage.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 13/09/2009 17:12

Well, if you park your car badly you take the risk of someone accidentally knocking against yours as they open their door. C'est la vie.

All right, this wasn't technically accidental... but it could have been. If you're precious about your car getting dinged, park nicely.

MermaidSpam · 13/09/2009 17:52

BradfordMum - I think you mean "lose"
If you're going to insult someone, at least do it with good English.

Why would someone be fucked if they had a new mark on their car's paintwork? Out of many marks? Genuine question.

But I was more than unreasonable, it was an awful thing to do and I never do things like that usually.

As I've said, I DID try to do it without touching his door at all. And only gave up and let it knock after being pissed off at always being the considerate one. Not that it's an excuse.

Next time I will wrestle DS in from the other side. Never been on the receiving end of a real AIBU pasting but as the title suggests I thought I was in need of one for that.

Will let you know if anything happens to my teeth!

WhingeBobShitPants · 13/09/2009 18:03

what colour car was it?

Ninks · 13/09/2009 18:06

Why - was it you?

I'll happily pay for it. Silver.

OP posts:
WhingeBobShitPants · 13/09/2009 18:09

silver?

yadnbu then!

WhingeBobShitPants · 13/09/2009 18:09

only tossers drive silver cars

OrmIrian · 13/09/2009 19:28

I think that MN needs a wake up call sometimes. PLEASE UNDERSTAND! Not everyone has small children. They don't understand that your DC are in fact the centre of the world. It will not occur to them that parking a bit too close will make your day so unbearable that you will need to commit an act of deliberate vandalism
