Oh I have. I didn't mean to be though. Not really.

You know when you have a toddler to get in a toddler seat and they are too little to get in unless the door is wide open?

The between baby and child stage where you have to sort of lift the heavy buggers into the seat and usually bang their head or something and you twist your back and it's all very awful.

BECAUSE SOME TOSSER HAS PARKED GIVING YOU NO ROOM TO OPEN THE DOOR FULLY EVEN THOUGH YOU CLEARLY HAVE A CHILD-SEAT.

Ahem.

Well I had a situation like this earlier and I did try to get DS aged 2.4 in without opening the car door fully. Then he hit his head and I lost it trying to cope with the lack of space and opened our car door.

I opened it very carefully until it got to the point where the other car was. and when I saw how little room he had given me I, er, saw red. And pushed let the door swing open with my boot reasonable force behind it.

Got DS in and went to get in myself and saw a 3cm square scrape in the twat's car next to where I had to open the back one.

The real problem is that parking spaces are just not made wide enough. I think we need to lobby planning departments.

That isn't the other car driver's fault - so imo you were being unreasonable, and probably cowardly as well as I bet you wouldn't have dared to wilfully damage someone's car under their nose.

charis · 13/09/2009 10:38

My dd swung her car door into the brand new volvo of the chair of the pta last term and left a scratch. I still haven't owned up.

I really meant to, but then I had left it too long and chickened out. I know I am in the wrong.

gorionine · 13/09/2009 10:39

I think YAB a bit U but you admitted so yourself.

I was ROFL @ ""He really deserves his next poo to be a hedgehog."" I had never heard that expression but will no doubt use it one day!

KIMItheThreadSlayer · 13/09/2009 10:46

You are my hero

honie · 13/09/2009 13:01

I would be devestated if I came back to my car and found this. I wonder if they could afford to fix it or now have to look at it every day.

honie · 13/09/2009 13:03

Or even worse, what might they (or perhapd their kids) have to go without to pay to fix your tantrum the damage you left

MrsWeasley · 13/09/2009 13:08

YABVVVU.

You deliberately damaged a car because you got into a rage

What goes around comes around!

Tidey · 13/09/2009 13:20

I can understand you feeling angry at the other's driver's lack of consideration for the people around him, and I hope your son's head is okay, but you were unreasonable to deliberately try to damage his car in revenge.

As many others have said, what if someone didn't like your parking and damaged your car? It's happened to me before. I parked on a street with absolutely no parking restrictions but a local resident who seemed to think he owned that particular space thought I shouldn't be there, kicked the passenger door and caused a large dent.

rimmer08 · 13/09/2009 13:22

how is it reasonable to willfully damage someone elses property?

gingernutlover · 13/09/2009 13:25

actually i hope someone did see it happen, and wrote your car details down for the owner. The more I think about this the more it makes me angry

bridewolf · 13/09/2009 13:29

when my boys were younger , they would open the car doors and hit the other car before i could get to them.

pushing two children in trolley and older two walking , i simply didnt have enough time to stop them.

countless times car parked soooo close to my people carrier , and sometimes you just couldnt climb in on one side.

more a problem of old car parks , made for a time of smaller cars......

but still, once or twice, i had to move the car, simply because a bouncy boys flung open the car door as the got out the car.....................

so, if you are unreasonable, so am i.

bruxeur · 13/09/2009 13:33

bridewolf, can you read?

diddl · 13/09/2009 13:36

Well hubby & I must be strange as when the children were younger we opened the doors for them so that they couldn´t fling them open onto other cars.

That sounds really horrible. I'm also sad that you're not sorry about your deliberate act of malice. I hope you're making it up. I hope you're not bringing up your children to vandalise other people's property.

That's a bit OTT Bradfordmum!

I would have used public transport because I don't need to carry much as we are mostly self-sufficient on our little homestead, so I wouldn't have this problem. I am perfect you see, and I certainly never lose my temper.

Jelliebaby · 13/09/2009 15:08

YABVU

It is frustrating when that happens but the driver probably didnt see your car seat (not something i look at) so thought it was fine to park their car next to your, not thinking for one minute you would smack your car door into their car and cause expensive damage for them. I feel very sorry for them and doubt it was the first or last time you will do that to someone's car. Are you better than the average driver???

That is a really horrible thing to have done. YOu were slightly inconvenienced by someone parking within the white lines as they are supposed to do. So you have damaged their car, which will cost money to fix, inconvenience them far mroe than you were bothered, and quite possibly lose their no-claims discount if they can't afford to pay for the damage outright.

BitOfFun · 13/09/2009 15:13

Note: Please bear in mind that this topic encourages posters to give their opinions - i.e. they might disagree with you. That said, in line with our Talk policy elsewhere, we don't allow personal attacks no matter how unreasonable you think someone is. Do report any you see. Thanks, MNHQ.

YABVVU.

TrillianAstra · 13/09/2009 15:14

But I don't hope your teeth fall out in the night.

Do you think it was bradfordmum's car?

SoupDragon · 13/09/2009 15:15

I'm with Bradfordmum
