Genuinely don't know what they are for...they didn't cover it in parenting class!

Anyone?

I've got a boring black & yellow 'Child on Board' sign. It's there because it makes me feel like it might be making a difference, though logically I know it's probably not.

All this stuff about them being used to proclaim how smug & fertile you are is utter crap. I'm hardly fertile, I spent 10 years TTC then had my DS on my first IVF attempt. He will be my only child, I can't have any more. So you'll forgive me if I indulge in this little bit of PFB-ness that is so terribly annoying to all of you.

And also the idea that they might upset people TTC is also utter crap. Never upset me and quite frankly if someone is that senstive about their infertility they probably need therapy.

Similar situation to waitingforfanjo, 10 yrs TTC, 1 failed IVF, 2nd time successful, DD will be our only child.

But I hate them with a passion.

One I saw many years ago was black and yellow and said

"Pull Back! Spare the life of my Child!"

Which was such a peculiar combination of bossiness and the bizarre assumption that I and others were out driving with the express intention of killing their child, that quite frankly it made me want to ram them...

(Of course I didn't! Honest!)

I suppose the subtext, fruitbeard, is-I only have a 43yr old woman in the back so feel free to drive dangerously and ram into the back!

Are you spamming 1ismad? Very poor.

DuelingFanjo · 20/09/2009 22:39

how weird.

This thread reminded me of this about 7 minutes in

My friend has a naughty sign in her back window. It says something like "in emergency, driver on back seat" or something along those lines. Oh it makes me cringe! The baby on board ones, well I've not got kids, and I don't drive so people can paste what they like on their windows.

slummymummy36 · 23/09/2009 01:06

Dont have one and dont like them much.

Instead of "little princess on board" they could do a "little shit on board"

wahwah · 23/09/2009 07:03

Can't bear these signs, also hate the 'mum to be on board' ones-might as well subtitle it 'I'm pregnant and vulnerable, target me'. Needless to say I have never owned any. However, IF they actually precipitate more considerate behaviour in other road users, then I'd have no problem slapping one on.

Any research?

No I've never understood them as a lot of people have said samcks abit of showing off. The thing about emergency services is an urban myth.

I've always thought 'Beware Unpredictable Toddler on Board' much more worthwhile. I remember when doing an emergency stop when DS1 was about 3 and he shouted 'Stop Mum' in a 'someone's about to die' sort of way. Only to find out the 'emergency' was that he'd just seen a Christmas tree!
