To wonder what the point of embossed baby wipes are?

I mean, seriously, what's the point of embossing something whose main function is going to be wiping up poo?

Really?

Me too. I couldn't stand the thought of flannels with poo on them as well as the wee pants waiting to be washed.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 01/09/2009 15:41

Well, like anything in life, you have to get comfortable with basic level before trying something more complicated, but it's always a bit of a leap when you try the next stage.

A natural progression might go: chincilla, puppy, mango, plank of wood, wire brush, pencil.

Of course some very talented people might be able to get good results with a pencil straight off, but that's pretty rare I reckon.

wastingmyevening · 01/09/2009 15:50

Wipes just spread poo around, and are useless at removing chocolate from fingers. A cheapo flannel really does the job.

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 01/09/2009 15:50

How about attaching some kind of brush to the wall to help with stubborn types of poo? I'm thinking of something like those brush hedgehogs that county pubs have outside the door to wipe mud off your boots.

Casserole · 01/09/2009 15:51

I am mortified. None of the baby wipes I've ever bought have been embossed.

Clearly little Tarquin Farquar has been having to contend with inferior arse wipes.

Oh, the shame...

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 01/09/2009 15:57

Do chincillas moult? They'd be no good if they moulted. The ahir would just get stuck in the pooh. Let's stick to puppies.

MoonHasMosquitoBites · 01/09/2009 15:58

But poo stains never come out!!!! I couldn't reuse a flannel with poo stains still on it. I have thrown away a million vests due to unsightly poo stains - it can't just be me who feels this way surely???

Agree with poster who said about sticky tags on pull ups - where have they gone, now the poo falls out if you're not careful when rolling the nappy. Again, that could just be me.

also what did M&B say? I always miss those posts and just read the cross posts after - drat!

wastingmyevening · 01/09/2009 16:05

Only you will see the flannels Moon. And stains do come out, eventually.

I've never had poo stains on vests.

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:07

You've never had poo stains on a vest? No squidger of a poo up the back of a nappy?

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 01/09/2009 16:07

You've never had a poo stain on a baby's vest? How have you managed that?

wastingmyevening · 01/09/2009 16:12

Aha! I worked it out - the nappy wraps I use come down DS leg, so if it leaks it goes straight on his trousers or sleepsuit, but that hardly ever happens. Motherease Airflow wraps are really good.
If you wash it straight away it shouldn't stain anyway though.

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:13

it's not down the legs, it's up the back - how do you stop those ones?

wastingmyevening · 01/09/2009 16:16

That's only happened once when he was poorly. Don't know why though. I just stuck the vest in with the nappies to wash.

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:17

hmm mine do eat a lot of fruit....

wastingmyevening · 01/09/2009 16:19

DS mostly eats oranges . I guess it's the nappy I use.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 01/09/2009 16:20

Coh dear I only this morning had to set to with bleach after a good hot wash failed to shift baby poo stain.

It is lethal stuff - OK when they get onto solids but before that, my word.

It was shortly after I had DD1 that I realised why baby clothes sheets etc are traditionally white...

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant didn;t it! Is a current ishoo for me I suppose

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 01/09/2009 16:21

I think all baby clothes should be dark brown, not white

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:23

yes but baby poo isn't always that lovely shade of dark brown. Sometimes it's orange or green or yellow - just like a lovely rainbow

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 01/09/2009 16:24

Maybe tie-dyed vests are the way forward? They could be brown and yellow with a hint of green

Morloth · 01/09/2009 16:24

Oh god the poo's all the way up the back, sometimes making it to their necks. THEN also leaking out the sides and staining the sheets.

Somebody remind me why I have signed up for this again? Thank goodness for Napisan.

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:26

Then you have to pull it over their heads and it goes in their hair and, and, and......yuck!

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:26

tie dye vests - cool!

LovelyTinOfSpam · 01/09/2009 16:27

DD2 is experimenting with luminous yellow at the moment

GoAwayMrWappy · 01/09/2009 16:32

Nice

SkivingViking · 01/09/2009 16:34

I reckon it's to do with the angle of the arse and velocity of the poo-shoot.

Dd never had a spot of poo on her vests. All ds' have a nice yellow tinge at least somewhere on the vest. Couldn't throw his vests away after poo stains - would mean buying about 20 vests a week.

Chinchilla no good - what if you went out, got a bit drunk and wiped with the wrong end? (Or are the chinchillas just for the baby bums and if so, what would the adults use? And back to the op - embossed looroll is relatively common isn't it? Why am I even thinking about all of this?!)
