AIBU?

To think it's really, really distasteful to dress up as a 'sexy schoolgirl'?

It's not that I'm a prude or anything. I've done it myself in my twenties several times (for a party, not ahem private titillation)

It's just lately since I've had my own child, and with so much public awareness of paedophilia and its apparent standing as THE crime people hate most, it just seems to grate on me that people can think it's still ok to sexualise what is essentially a child's outfit.

I suppose what I'm trying to say (but not very well) is that it's a bit like dressing as a Nazi for a party. It's not funny because of all the bad connotations & just not the 'done' thing.( but not quite the same, IYSWIM)

I am probably BU, but it just makes me feel a bit 'eew!'

I totally agree with those who're saying this is just hysteria. Adults dressing up as sexy schoolkids may be mildly transgressive, as fetishes generally have to be in order to have their effect, but it has nothing to do with what would arouse a paedophile. Paedophilia is an attraction to children whatever they're wearing. In fact the more innocent the outfit/image, the more arousing it can be. This reality is so disturbing that we can find it easier to get alarmed about issues like adults wearing sexy uniforms or children wearing 'sexy' adult-style clothes, but really none of it will increase or lessen the risk of real paedophile activity. Vile, but true. YABU.

"paedophiles' modus operandi is that society seemign to condone what they do and that " they all want to have sex with underage kids but are socialised to think its wrong" is a major step in going form impulse to acting out fantasies."

completely sums up why this is wrong IMO

Disagree Greensleeves - teenagers in school uniform ARE sexy

If we were talking about eight year olds in high heels I might agree

nto many are sexy tbh - they might be pretty but only really Year 11 ( and hardly any of them) are sexy

why dressing up as a schoolchild is wrong

especially wih freckles etc - it normalises the idea of grown men being attracted to little girls IMO

and paedophiles typically DO think that they are following natural human urges and the rest of us are deluded/conditioned

I don't think there would be anything LESS attractive to a paedophile than an adult woman in sexy schoolgirl get up - it really not what their pathology is about.

In practical terms, I wouldn't dress up like it now, but for the cellulitely thighs things rather than anything else (although I do have real freckles!) 19 year old girls can probably carry it off the best, and school was so recent for them it isn't really that weird!

thats not what we are saying
we are syaing it normalises kids as something that can be seuxally desired as much as a inapproirate t shirt or whatever

..not that the T shrit can be desired.. oh you know

missing the point a bit there JemL

fetishes and sexual play-acting always has archetypal meaning - daft to pretend otherwise

french maid outfit - sexy because stereotype says that french people are always horny, maids are submissive and have to do everything you tell them

schoolgirl outfit - little girls are saucy and sexy and fair game for lecherous adult men

I have dressed up as a schoolgirl many times. It's titilting for me and my partner and doesn't make us paedophiles.

NO that not what we are saying

grr
are there only dullards on this thread?

Sorry but this is utter rubbish. I know people who have been into the 'school role play' fetish for 20 years or so and none of them has ever, or would ever, done anything untoward to anyone under the age of about 30. Most peole who abuse children are abusive towards children within their own families, and what the children wear is irrelevant, the abuse is about power, control, selfishness and a sense of entitlement (my kids, I can fuck them if I want to...)
While there is a long, long cultural history of young girls being desirable (on the grounds that they are fertile and, if virgins, won't have the pox) this doesn't have any links with child abuse and certainly not with the wearing of school uniform - the impulse towards desiring young girls for breeding would be put off by the idea of educating them.

but every time you dress up like that you are saying "little girls in school uniform are gagging for it"

which is pretty horrible, really

and I wouldn't want to be married to a man who found that titillating, personally

WE ARE NOT SAYING IT MAKES YOU A PAEDOPHILE

NOT YOU
IT JJUST ENCOURAGES THOSE WHO ALREADY FANTASISE ABOUT KIDS TO THINK THAT YPOU ALL MUST DO TOO

rantlock off ;)

The St. Trinian's look is not about "little girls" - it is about burgeoning sexuality

Do you think that in the days when we had 15 year olds as Page 3 girls it was only paedophiles who were interested? Do you think Sam Fox circa 1983 is a paedophile's dream? I very much doubt it.

paedos DO say that frequently

"if my feelings are so abnormal, why is it that 'normal' men get off on schoolgirl outfits"

they see themselves as only doing what the rest of us would love to do if we dared

Of course paedophiles will justify themselves! They are MAD. Rapists probably say that "she wa drunk - she wanted it" - does that mean that women who drink are justifying the existence of rapists??! Your argument is backwards.
