to think that the festival attracts a certain sort of rude arsewipe?

Came out of our tenement the other day and there was a post it on the door saying

"Please Mr postman/lady do not buzz our flat to get in as we are out very late at the festival and don't want to be woken up!"

I was a bit taken aback as we never get our post before 10.30am and generally later. Not exactly the crack of dawn.

Then today another note on the door:

"Right Postman. DO NOT BUZZ our flat to get access we are renting for the festival and have been woken up EVERY FUCKING DAY"

I strongly wanted to ring their bell (it was 8am, so even worse than the postie) and kick their sorry pseudo bohemian arses. I really don't think postman ought be addressed like that when he is just doing a job.

How hard is it to ignore a doorbell anyway?

i feel for you, i dread someone in our block renting out for the festival.

thankfully it doesn't seem to have happened this year.

I have no idea, it's just you wrote "the festival" as though we should all know which one, and Edinburgh is the only one I could think of which isn't tent-based.

Thats not even the half of it. How hard is it NOT to run people over just now. People just walk out in groups into oncoming traffic. I was trying to turn down cockburn st at the start of the festival and just had to keep my hand on the horn as people were practically throwing themselves under my car.

Maybe we could try and run over your neighbours?

Confuzzeled Yes, the traffic too. Some of the festival people are foreign so I can forgive them looking the wrong way when they cross the road, but most don't look at all. It's like their talent will keep them safe.

Well, the postie could be an arse I suppose. (Ringing their bell when they don't have any mail maybe) but it doesn't come till at least 10.30am and really I don't think that is early enought to warrant a snipy post it.

If he was an arse after the first post it I wouldn't really blame him. I would applaud him now.

I hate the festival. You can't walk down the street without being accosted by a group of hilarious street performers.
When I was pregnant with DD I was innocently shopping and a group of talentless feckers tried to drag me into their performance. "No" did not work so I told them to "Back the fuck off" in my best crazed pregnant lady voice , they backed off

I used to live in Edinburgh (was at Edinburgh Uni a long time ago)and remember it well.

My student house decided to rent out a room during the festival (hey, we charged enough that we all got a free month!!) but the guy who got it was a total arse.

"Isn't Edinburgh faaaaaaaaaabulous! It must be ah-maaaaaaaaaazzzzing to live here, especially during the festival ...... etc etc etc ....."

Well no, frankly. We're students. We're doubling up our bedrooms to let you stay here to get ourselves a bit of cash. We're all working our little bottoms off to pay our way through next year (I was working as an auxiliary nurse on 12 hour shifts all summer). And you, Mr Cambridge-Student-On-Unpaid-Work-Experience-With-The-Independent-Cos-Daddy-Can-Subsidise-You, are enjoying a free pass to the festival.

Aaaaarrrgh!

But it did save all 5 of us a months rent!

The thing is at 10.30 they might be the only flat that has someone in the rest may be at work/school etc so chances are postie not being an arse.
DH is a postie and on flats where there is no service button or it isn't working are a nightmare for and they are only supposed to try to get into a building so many days in a row with no answer/access before all mail goes back to sender. I'm also assuming that, ok the people in the flat just now don't get any mail but if they are only there for the festival the usual dwellers probably are still getting their mail can't see them being chuffed if it all ends up going back to sender cause they rented to tossers.

I would have pressed the buzzer.

I wouldn't think that the "we're going to the festival" excuse would wash with many Edinbuggers.

Where is this flat? You could probably organise a rota of people to come and push the buzzer every 5 minutes from 6am.

Heck, I'm in Glasgow adn I'd come through just to do it!

I hate the Festival - too bloody busy! And every night dd2 is woken by the fireworks at the end of the Tatoo........its rubbish. Especially worse since Edinburgh is a complete mess in preparation for the trams.........as if we need them...

Thanks for support we are hitting the road at sparrow fart tommorrow. DH will have to restrain me from knocking them up at 5.30am.

Mind you if the 10.30am plus is waking them up they might not even be in bed by then.

But they just don't get that the rest of the city is getting on with life as usual. We're not on holiday...
