to not understand why anyone would find this funny?

Here - baby t-shirt

A colleague emailed this to me. She thought it was funny.

AIBU to think I should say something about the inappropriate sexualisation of babies / children or should I just let it go? Maybe I'm having a sense of humour bypass.

What does anyone else think?

YANBU. Grim.

Hollyoaks · 13/08/2009 14:29

I think its weird to dress your baby like that, but each to their own.

P.S. not funny in my book either.

SolidGoldBrass · 13/08/2009 14:29

I think it's hilarious and am going to buy one for DS.

AstronomyDomine · 13/08/2009 14:29

YANBU - that's just wrong.

Stinkyfeet · 13/08/2009 14:30

Ew - that's hideous.

halfbakedcookie · 13/08/2009 14:30

I think it's a bit gross.

iMumruly · 13/08/2009 14:30

Similar, my very very good friend bought my ds a baby grow once-with "I have a drinking problem" written on it-I loathe it but she thought it was funny seeing as how much ds likes his milk.
he wears it in bed only!

Tamarto · 13/08/2009 14:31

I laughed.

HensMum · 13/08/2009 14:33

They also have t-shirts with "Lil Pimpin'" and "hello, my name is spaz".

I like a humorous t-shirt on a baby - am considering buying one for DS that says "what happens at nursery, stays at nursery" - but those are just vile and offensive.

Some are, Cyradis, but some are just as inappropriate as the one the OP linked to - if not more inappropriate - 'Lil Pimpin' and 'My Name is Spaz' are particular high spots!

MamazontheDailyMailtakingadump · 13/08/2009 14:42

"hi my name is spaz" is so offensive i think i would actually punch the parent of any child wearing it

mamadiva · 13/08/2009 14:42

I hate things like this, I remember when DS was born I went to Tesco to find some cute bibs and all they ahd were ones that said 'Hugs Dealer' I thought thye were the most vile things ever but no these t shirts are worse.

AMumInScotland · 13/08/2009 14:42

Made me snigger...

hocuspontas · 13/08/2009 14:43

It's American - maybe things are meant differently? Hung might mean handsome.

Agree - bizarre if not.

beanieb · 13/08/2009 14:46

Isn't it funny because it's suggesting the dad is hung like a small child

hocuspontas · 13/08/2009 14:47

Wiki says 'spaz' is not offensive in the US and means clumsy.

Tamarto · 13/08/2009 14:48

'"hi my name is spaz" is so offensive i think i would actually punch the parent of any child wearing it'

Which of course would be so much more appropriate.

MamazontheDailyMailtakingadump · 13/08/2009 14:50

No tomarto. Its an extreme reaction to an extremely offensive t shirt.

but its one of those things where maybe your child needs to come home batytered bruised and crying their eyes out after spending the day being bullied because they have SN to really appreciate.

HensMum · 13/08/2009 14:50

The t-shirt has a picture of a horse on it - I think that the meaning is clear.

Really, "spaz" isn't offensive in the US? Can any American MNers confirm that?

Is it te fact that your child has SN or the fact that they are bullied that gives you the right to have the extreme reaction?

For future reference, you understand.

HensMum · 13/08/2009 14:56

I hate that meaning of pimp. A pimp is not good/cool/awesome, wherever you are.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/08/2009 14:58

2nd meaning

spaz is energetic

FAQtothefuture · 13/08/2009 15:00

Cyradis - I guess that's where "Pimp my Ride" comes from
