Got home yesterday, browsed through photos earlier. Not ONE with me in it. This happens a lot.

I don't even particularly like photos of me, but...

I always find that
I am a real snapper
But no one ever seems to want to take a photo of me
Although I would prob only moan I look fat in them anyway

SendReceive · 02/08/2009 15:35

Sixty - I'd understand if I took all the photos, but I don't. DH took about half of these, 75% scenery, 25% DC.

You'd never know I'd been there.

ouch

Pikelit · 02/08/2009 15:44

I'd be thrilled! But then I loathe and detest my photograph being taken. Did you not think to get into any of these pictures he took though?

SendReceive · 02/08/2009 15:52

I tell him loads that all the views he takes would be more interesting with one or more of us in the foreground, but it doesn't register.

He never just takes a pic of the DC either, they have to be doing something (like cartwheeling into the pool) so I can't muscle in on those...

And I just can't say "oh do take a picture of me"

I'd just like him to want to take one!

I can understand that you'd like SOME record of you being there! As a snapper myself, I'm afraid that we are usually horrified by the idea that people could get in the way of a view but for all that, I'd have wanted to document my family even if I moved them out of the Tuscan sunset shot..

golgi · 02/08/2009 16:08

I spent my childhood actively avoiding the camera, so after my baby years you'd think my parents only had one child. I tend to be in more now, but husband takes them without warning me (he's after some sort of "natural" effect but I end up looking more "gormless")

Meglet · 02/08/2009 16:10

yanbu .

I used to get this with my ex p, I felt like I never existed. Nearly all the pics I have of me and the dc's are one's I've done myself at arms length.

MrsBadger · 02/08/2009 16:14

dh complains I don't take enough photos of him

pfft

DesperateHousewifeToo · 02/08/2009 16:30

It's the same in our family.

Dh does not have a clue about how to even switch the camera on, let alone have the urge to ever take a photo.

Consequently, we only have photos of dcs or him and dcs.

I agree that I don't particularly enjoy seeing myself in photos but do think it might be nice 'when I am gone' for the dcs to have some visual record of my existance.

Ds, though, seems to enjoy taking photos but unfortunatey, these seem to only involve the carpet and his sisters bottom so far

TheChilliMoose · 02/08/2009 16:32

Same here. It's all photos of DH with DS or DS on his own.

McSnail · 02/08/2009 17:14

Oooo, I thought I was the only one to get annoyed by this. I actually have to ASK to get photos of me taken. Partner just isn't as into taking photos as I am, I suppose. Even throughout my pregnancy, I've had to ask for him to take photos of me, which has made me feel a bit hard done by, haha.

OrmIrian · 02/08/2009 17:15

sixtyfoot - exactly! DH takes them of me on the beach and I moan like hell that I look fat and ugly .

I have to force myself to take photos of DH....I have loads of the DC and just a few of him

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 02/08/2009 17:17

This annoys me too. I have pictures of events and someone once commented it looked like I wasn't there because I took them all.
My friend growing up remembers wondering why her mum was never around...she later realised she was but she was on the wrong side of the camera.

I just think it doesn't occur to DH to take pictures of me.

Swedes · 02/08/2009 17:22

Everyone has far too many photos of themselves and their children. Just go on holiday and have a lovely time.

I'd much prefer it to be like the old days where you had a poly-photo done once a year. And then there's the odd snap of you with your wonky fringe, in your boy's shorts, eating an icecream at the Lido. I think it was the Lido, because the background is a bit blurred.

colette · 02/08/2009 17:30

Sendrecieve yanbu

I think you should tell him , he probably has no idea .

MamaGoblin · 02/08/2009 17:51

YANBU. But don't be shy of asking to be in them - it probably hasn't occured to him, but I don't think that means he doesn't want to see you there.

DH is rubbish at photos - I have the cameras in this relationship! If it were up to him, our whole lives would go unrecorded, so I'm fine about being the photographer. And if I want to be in some of them, I ask him to take some. Simple as.

SixtyFootDoll · 02/08/2009 18:34

It would be nice though if DH said one day
'darling you are so beautiful, I really must take a photo of you!'
I think I would have a long wiat!

Eve4Walle · 02/08/2009 19:02

I was glad there weren't many of me on our recent holiday. Just reminds me that I'm getting old and need to lose some weight.

KateF · 02/08/2009 19:06

Just wait til your dc get cameras. There will be so many unflattering pictures of you as I discovered this summer!

SendReceive · 02/08/2009 19:29

colette/MamaGoblin - I have told him. He said it just doesn't cross his mind

When I need a photo of myself (I live abroad and don't see family much, so they ask for photos regularly) that it would be nice to have a few of me to choose from rather than send some nice ones of the children and him that I've taken and a rubbish portrait of me taken with the webcam

DD1 now has a camera though KateF so maybe I need to train her now...!

It has always very slightly irked me that I do not have any of the classic newborn-and-proud-mother pics. There are pics of the post-birth moments but they are all of DS with odd bits of my chin/leg/hand/shoulder in there.

CloudDragon · 02/08/2009 19:38

I have the same problem with videos. We have loads of little bits of footage with the DCs and DH and I will forever be remembered as a voice!

SixtyFootDoll · 02/08/2009 20:12

Yes CD, dont think I am on ANY home movies
Some friends of ours asked me to video their wedding a few years ack
It was very stressful and when I played it back it was like I wasnt there, felt quite sad about it really

FrameyMcFrame · 02/08/2009 21:38

this happens to me too and it really upsets me! Glad there are others out there who feel the same way and I am not a crazy lady!
