to be annoyed that DH blames me

for DS (6) not standing up to wee?! He still sits down.

I think DH should be the one to persuade him - after all I can't really demonstrate can I?

The trouble is, DH is not very good at getting on the DCs' wavelengths to get them to do things.

Any tips?

What difference does it make if he stands or sits?? As long as he is weeing!!

Do boys get persuaded into it? I had assumed that eventually they would just realise they could and it was less hassle, or that they saw other men or boys do it and followed suit.

If the second case is true, how's he supposed to have learned it from you? I am presuming you don't pee standing up.

K999, I don't mind if he still sits down! It's just that DH does, and says it's my fault! I have so far thought that if DS is not keen, trying to make him would be counterproductive, and he will do it when he's ready.

Forgot to say - my DS was still sitting to pee when he was six too, it's only in the last six months or so he's been standing. I don't really know why he started doing it, hence my above assumptions.

GeeWhizz - they do, but DS does not want to do it DH's way - he has seen it plenty of times.

I had to ask dh to show ds - ds wanted very much to pee standing up but I really couldn't advise him on technique...

He goes to school doesn't he? well surely he has seen his friends in the toilet,he probably just prefers it.

DS started standing up when he was about 6 and half, possibly even closer to 7yrs. Lots of his friends were standing from age 3 or 4.

I think leave him to it, it really doesn't matter either way, and probably better not to make an issue out of it.

Thing is, dh kept saying oh, yes, I'll do that and then NOT getting around to it. V. irritating. There's only so much help of the 'I think you use your fingers to point your willy, darling' variety that I can give, really!

DS1 still sits down to pee and thinks standing a bit yuk. I wish my brother sat down as he just cannot aim right

how utterly bizarre your dh would blame you for this

It's a non issue anyway but if your dh chooses to think it's an issue then clearly it's he who needs to be the one to encourage/show ds.

Your DH sounds a bit of a knob, if he cares either way he should be the one to do something about it. Whats wrong with sitting down to wee?
That said, there's no reason why you can't teach DS to wee standing up, its not hard.

WEll........... somebody said to me that only germans wee sitting down and that I would need to show my son how to wee standig up. not sure how I'm going to do that,being asingle parent. but ah well, eins wei drei. hit the target if you can...

DSs sit down to wee at home, always have done but apparently are happy enough to use urinals when they're out. Does it matter? I've never got this "it's not manly to sit" thing, probably because I'm a woman

phew. thought I was failing my son terribly being only his mother. I'm relieved to hear that you're not all sending the dads in at 7am for upright urination training.
