2 out of 3 of mine are gingers. DD's is a coppery golden tone and DS2 is a auburn/mousey tone now (was lighter when he was little).
I was blonde as a child darkening to medium brown as an adult and DH was a strawb blonde kid darkening to mid brown with slight auburn tones as an adult.
DS2 copped for a bit of bullying in the latter years of primary school but nothing too horrific. DD is only 7 (well, next week she will be) and so far hasn't really experienced anything anti-ginger. Actually, that's a bit of a fib as there is a little girl in her school (vile brat, but there you go) who has made fun of DD's hair colour but ridiculously that child also has ginger hair (much more orangey ginger than DD's too) so that's a bit weird.
That said, bullies will find a reason to bully almost any child - too fat, too thin, too short, too tall, glasses, freckles, spots, too clever, too thick, too poor, too rich, too posh, too common. The list is endless!
FWIW, I really like red haired men (although I had no idea DH was a redhead). I mean, Damian Lewis, how could you not fancy him ? And dirty old Boris Becker. Yummy
