to wonder why another MNer would randomly send me a CAT message asking me to indulge in slagging off other threads?

Never heard of this MNer before (but then I have only been around here for a year and regularly posting for about 6 months). Claims to be posting under a new name but was previously someone else on here - whose name I have seen on threads - and asks me to indulge in some slagging off of threads. Ignored message and then find myself being referred to as "poncetastic" on a thread I posted. Can accept the accusation....probably am a bit poncetastic at times....but all seems very strange "coincidence".

AIBU to wonder question posted in title of thread?

AIBU to think this is pathetic behaviour?

AIBU to think that this kind of trolling etc happens all too often on MN?

(am trying to steer clear of starting a thread about a thread issues here ).

would be nice to have TIME for these long offline chats about people on MN, tbh

kathyis6incheshigh · 23/07/2009 13:34

Not everyone does though SetSquare, that's the thing.
I CATted an MNer once to offer my support when she was being slagged off on a thread and she replied by firmly but elegantly changing the subject. I think this was a good approach.
It's not a crime to discuss threads by email but some people do prefer to keep it all in the open, actually. (Did you really not know that? )

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2009 13:34

or friends!

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:34

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/07/2009 13:35

What a bizarre thread.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2009 13:35

oops , xposted

cornsillk · 23/07/2009 13:35

I like the style and beauty threads. This thread is too confusing. Is therealmrsjohnsimm not mrsjohnsimm on a namechange then?

StealthPolarBear · 23/07/2009 13:36
Hmm
PortBlacksandResident · 23/07/2009 13:36

I didn't mean telling your DH or whatever - i meant wrt CAT, MSN etc.

cornsillk · 23/07/2009 13:36

I reckon setsquare was sharing her secret croc fetish.

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:36

god knows
i liked the real mrs JS style contriubtions

the " poncetastic" was a joke

odd to take it so EARNESTLY

LIZS · 23/07/2009 13:36

I don't know about "common" but since the advent of msn and facebook it is hardly likely confined to those making contact via CATs. Since what brought most posters together in the first place was mn it is naive to think they wouldn't discuss it occasionally.

cocolepew · 23/07/2009 13:36

Ahh black boots and jeans, that's ok then.

Never understood that myself, I thought it was the law.

Redazzy · 23/07/2009 13:36

I am totally uninvolved but totally embroiled now and I have a million things to do! Where is TRMJS to answer all this? Please come back - my shower will not clean itself!

CybilLiberty · 23/07/2009 13:36

I've LOVED this thread. Juicy, meaty chunks of gossip and intrigue

Tamarto · 23/07/2009 13:36

Just ignore your kids Fanjo, works for me.

SpawnChorus · 23/07/2009 13:36

The CAT is a lot less scandalous than I hoped.

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:37

why cant you wear black boots?

it will all be revealed - i think it was Nailpolishes thing

SetSquare · 23/07/2009 13:37

sorry yes.
anyone who wants to ct me feel free and i can pop that on here too

TutTutter · 23/07/2009 13:37

black boots with jeans?

UNacceptable

unless - possibly - skinny jeans into biker boots

brimfull · 23/07/2009 13:38

no black boot and jeans is very wrong

pagwatch · 23/07/2009 13:38

fucking nora

I have been here years and i clearly know nothing.

Do people really post a bit on threads and then go off to bitch about the posters on them via cat or whatever?
Really?

I am going off MN a bit.

cocolepew · 23/07/2009 13:38

You have to wear black boots, brown are just, erm, so poncetastic.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2009 13:38

ponders whether she wants to pay £5 to be called a wanker

Tamarto · 23/07/2009 13:38

Should you not wear black boots and jeans? oh.
