To ask my neighbour to take down her windchimes?

I live on the ground floor of a block of flats, my neighbours balcony in right above my living room and bedroom window. Recently my neighbour has hung up 2 sets of windchimes, i can hear them all day and night even with my windows closed, i couln't sleep the other night because all i could hear were her windchimes, so AIBU to politely ask her to take them down?

I don't think so.

But you would have to be very polite, point out that they were disrupting your sleep and was their any chance she could possibly move them. And think about what you will say if they say no!

Windchimes making a racket all night (and all day) long would do my head in. It would, in fact, make me go insane with rage. In your position, I would be fantasising about powerful explosives, but in reality, I would heed the advice to be as polite as possible in order to obtain the desired effect.

You could even mention a terrible migraine that makes them particularly unbearable.

Make a joke of it when you speak to your neighbour. Maybe they don't realise how irritating it is for other people around them.

It's true, they probably have no idea other people can hear them.

I like windchimes myself. However, when your neighbours are so close you have to be more considerate so I think YANBU to ask politely!

I was once bothered by the windchimes of a neighbour. She was in a sheltered block so I couldn't knock on her door so I had to put a note through to her. She took them down and I was extremely glad of the peace. Ask her as she probably doesn't realise that they are bothering anyone.

Or creep out at night and take them down.

I took mine down this morning because I suddenly realized that if I could hear them from inside so could lots of other people!

Go and ask her - I would have been incredibly apologetic if someone had come round before I realized myself how annoying mine could have been.

I like the tinkly tinklies, but would be mortified if I thought they were that annoying. Of course YANBU.

Once a noise gets within your hearing radar, its really hard to ignore!

I have some to pop up in ds3's sensory agrden bit but haven't for this reason

What I might do is pop them up in a sheltered bit so DS can pull thm when he'splaying but they wont go on all night IYSWIM 9and if I can hear them take them down again)

Yes, just ask her nicely.

My neighbour over the back got drunk and stood yelling and swearing at us about our 'fucking windchimes' in teh dark one night. That option is not to be advised.

Buddhas don't bother me. They tend to be rather quiet.

They don't bother me as much, but I wouldn't want to hear it night and day.

Oh, plinky plunky windchimes - horrible!

I have had to disconnect our solar powered pond pump because the motor whirring noise must be audible from several other gardens. It would drive me mad if it was someone else's.
