Why on earth would anyone spend money on this stuff? And AIBU to think those who do are incredibly strange people?

Or am I just a snob?

I don't know what's worse, their products or the complete guff they write about them.

'There comes a time in every warrior's life when he must travel alone to the place of wild waters. There, by the light of the moon, he must dip his canteen into the icy depths of Wolf Lake.'

I love their indepth knowledge of Native American tribes, carefully gleaned from years of watching John Wayne movies.

I remember once on QVC or something (I love home shopping network channels) they were selling some lovely jewellery tat. "And this necklace is pure goldette, with diamondique jewels. This is very expensive to the eye". If you're blind maybe

phoebeophelia · 09/07/2009 16:04

Love it. OH hates it so I collect and put it on a shelf full of little cottages and various bits of tat making a sort of village. OH calls it "Naffton".

The children buy me bits from charity shops; pleases me AND winds up OH.

Got so much now I have a second shelf....Lower Naffton!

fufflebum · 09/07/2009 16:07

"he must dip his canteen into the icy depths of Wolf Lake" sounds like a metaphor for something .

LOL at this description of the Elvis Christmas Tree -

"No one loved Christmas more than Elvis Presley®. Now, his generous holiday spirit and warm, sparkling charm is lovingly evoked in this exclusive, first-ever illuminated collectable porcelain tabletop Elvis Presley Christmas tree!"

You thought you loved Christmas? Well, you don't love it as much as Elvis did!

PMSL - my mum had those bloody Shy Kids - god they creeped me out!!!!!!!

mrsrawlinson · 09/07/2009 16:52

Stop it now, I'm begging you! God, it's like driving by a car crash. You know you shouldn't look but you just have to. I think I've been mentally scarred for life.

bleh · 09/07/2009 17:02

Metella: your DM had one?! Why?! How? Did she choose it?

newpup · 09/07/2009 17:18

Who on earth buys this stuff!!!!!

Those shy kids are just downright scary! What kind of person wants a fake life size child in the corner of their living room?

paisleyleaf · 09/07/2009 17:45

I've been looking down this thread thinking that I can actually imagine a few odd people I know (Cliff Richard fans mostly) having some of this stuff.
But then those Shy Kids they're something else!

FairLadyRantALot · 09/07/2009 18:18

lol...
but must say if I had a choice between that Baby Monkey and a reborn Doll think...I would chose the Monkey any day....

Miggsie · 09/07/2009 18:22

It's really scary that someone designed them, someone made them, and presumeably people are BUYING them!

I am firmly of the opinion that all the above people are direct descendants of the Victorians who thought killing and stuffing kittens was a lovely pin cushion idea and making brooches out of dead people's hair was endearing.

weegiemum · 09/07/2009 18:26

I'm trying to imagine the person who goes into work in the morning and says "Hey boss, I've just had an idea for a great new product ....." and its one of these sort of things!

hoping4thebest · 09/07/2009 19:21

Is it a mil thing?
Will I like these kind of things when my son marries?
Are there precautionary measures I can take?

Miggsie · 09/07/2009 19:31

They should offer free therapy with the life size baby doll things that look like fairies...anyone who buys those has serious serious problems!

KingRolo · 09/07/2009 19:36

The smile on little Emmy's face will bring a smile to yours!

Um, no, the smile on little Emmy's face is actually making me claw my own eyes out in fear.

Thunderduck · 09/07/2009 20:39

I need one of those for each room.

The only reason I'd have one of these on my wall is for target practice.

Thunderduck · 09/07/2009 20:44

It gets worse.

cookielove · 09/07/2009 20:49

oh that is so so funny

Thunderduck · 09/07/2009 20:53

And just when you think it can't get any worse...

I'm convinced the concept behind this one was to use up all of the spare parts from their other assorted crap.

stainesmassif · 09/07/2009 21:33
