to think that in this day and age, people should not put a wash on with only 2 items in the thing.

My mum and my sis have both done this in the last week.
Why? says i, curiously...

well becuase thats all i have got to wash today says mother & sis.

None of my buisiness what people do in their own homes, did not comment further, but wondered what you all think?

(i wait till i have a full load, and i know that they dont have the facility for half a load on their machines, and yes they are incredibly lucky to not have mountains of the stuff....)

Let the flaming begin....

I would handwash if I had something I wanted to wear and nothing else to wash it with.

McSnail · 05/07/2009 14:10

YANBU. I agree with you - what a waste of electricity.

LadyRaRa · 05/07/2009 14:10

You need to find something else to worry about

crokky · 05/07/2009 14:10

I have a 15 minute wash on my machine. If I want a small amount of stuff washed quickly, I will use that. Personally, I have very few clothes and so do my DCs so I need to wash stuff quite frequently.

My uncle lives with my parents and does this all the time. Sometimes it's one item. Would not even consider washing some of their clothes or a few towels or sheets. It's wasteful and expensive, (although not to him, he doesn't pay the bills)

hocuspontas · 05/07/2009 14:13

Full loads only here. Anything else, especially delicate whites, could be hanging around smelly for weeks....

YANBU but i'd do 2 items if they were a sick stained gro-bag and cot sheet.

I often do small washes as there isn't much room to dry clothes and we'd need 3 x the amount of clothes if the rest of them were to sit in the dirty wash bin while I waited for a big load to build up.

We have clean clothes every day too. But then it is really hot here, and my sons play really physical games all day, so all the clothes are just disgusting by the evening. I try not to change them during the day though - that's my not very eco friendly contribution.

shockers · 05/07/2009 14:27

DD wore her dress for 1 hour at church this morning before she managed to smear most of a chocolate fountain over the front of it... oh for a day when I only had 2 items to wash! ( she's nearly 11 )

shockers · 05/07/2009 14:28

Having said that.... I would wait until I had a full wash or do them by hand.

2 thigns in the wash??
no way,
i could always find somethign else to wash with the 2 things, if i was that desperate.

smartacus · 05/07/2009 14:35

YANBU I do not understand it either. The only reasons I can tink of is that they only have 2 sets of clothes or they are worried to have a montain of ironing to do in one go?

How on earth do you get into the situation where there are only 2 things to wash!?

We have fresh clothes everyday, because I like to dribble things down my front, DS can get dirty sitting quietly watching telly and DH sweats. Not jeans however they only get washed when they start to smell.
