I don't want to make a fuss of govt introduced soon to be disbanded/contentious/not worth the paper it's written on/policies

Nor do I want to make a fuss because I have other dc who may not do well in exams.

But then again she thinks she worked hard and so should be rewarded.

Help please.

www.bbc.co.uk/indianfoodmadeeasy/recipes/episode_4/vegetablepakoras.shtml

this sounds like a nice pakora. i put cauliflower in mine and don't put in the spinach, but i do like anjum anand's recipes so i'd give this a try. i deffo did mine in a wok but i see she recommends a thick bottomed pan.

Dollop - so great that you have taken this tack. The night will be fab.

I wish my mum had had mumsnet, and the grace to listen to its best advice as generously as you have here.

Pmsl at fartspice.

Dahl recipe - this is just how I do it, which I got from my mum which is probably broadly based on a Madhur Jaffrey recipe - fry onions, garlic and some cumin seeds, add stock and lentils, add couple of chunks of peeled root ginger and simmer until lentils have dissolved. If you like it thick add more lentils, if you like it thin add less. And add chilli or cayenne if you want it to have a kick. HTH.

pointydog · 02/07/2009 23:34

SparklyGothKat · 02/07/2009 23:41

are SAT results in then?? Haven't hear a thing yet

RedLentil · 02/07/2009 23:43

Grimma, as I recall a tarka is a name for spices cooked separately and added at the end ..

Maybe we should take this discussion over to food ....

AitchTwoOh · 02/07/2009 23:45

yyy am v interested in grimma's otter recipes.

ChopsTheDuck · 03/07/2009 08:32

tarka is frying whole spices in very hot oil. Can also be done at the beginning, or stirred in at the end.

I lvoe asafoetida and use it a lot in indian cooking. It tends to be used a lot in gujarati food. The vile smell disappears when it is cooked and it leaves an onion/garlic sort of aroma.

abraid · 03/07/2009 09:10

It's very cruel to otters.
