I want those LED lights. To tell them to eff off when they are too close.

I give them filthy looks in the rear view mirror. Yeah, that is really going to scare them isn't it .

I don't do that tappy brake thing, just in case the arsehole hits me up the arse (so to speak). I have resorted to giving the driver the finger, though.

Bloody hate tailgaters.

Agree 90 is about the maximum I like to drive on a motorway comfortably.

Am noticing more and more holiday traffic on the M5 as we get into summer- bloody hell you can tell the people who are not used to motorway driving, dangerous manouvres (I know that is spelled wrong) all the damn time.

Only about 3% of accidents are caused by speeding - the majority are caused by reckless/careless driving and human error.

Some people should not be on the roads.

If i'm crusing i usually stick to 70, i speed up if i overtake, that is on the motorway of course. Been caught by speeding cameras 3 times before, not good, so never go over the limit on normal roads

Its beyond me why anybody would need to drive at 140, very dangerous and nothing to boast about of be proud of imo

If you've been caught by speed cameras 3 times you are obviously not paying attention.

Longtalljosie · 19/06/2009 13:06

I'd say doing 140 crosses the line from speeding to recklessness, frankly...

Yes 3 times in the 20 years i have been driving, and no i dont always pay attention and have been caught when i have been driving on unfamiliar roads

You boast about driving 140 and think its a safe speed to drive at, i would say its you who doesnt pay enough attention, to what safe driving is

Try pressing your screenwash a few times when they get close - they soon get really annoyed. My old car was fab for this (misaligned screenwash thingies) but most cars will wet the windscreen of the car behind if they are too close. The tailgator soon gets pissed off and backs off (especially if they see you pump your left arm victory style-ee everytime they have to use their wipers...)

hf128219 · 19/06/2009 13:19

I would hardly say I was boasting. And you have no idea where I drive.

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/06/2009 13:19

God only knows what bloody road you can even drive 140 mph on. The A3 at 3am. At Christmas. Any other road is too busy imo.

At the other end of the scale I don't know how anyone can drive at 70mph on a busy motorway, without getting jammed in by lorries and nutter pulling in. Please I think you generally have to speed up to overtake, at least at the junctions when the slip roads feed in. I think the majority of people travel at a steady 80 or 90 on motorways and it is safer to keep up with the general flow of traffic.

Never speed on other roads, too terrified of getting snapped by cameras.

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/06/2009 13:22

SuseDerkins - that is the best idea I have heard in ages

SusieDerkins · 19/06/2009 13:25

Dh says my arm pumping thing is a wee bit OTT so you can try a thumbs up instead....

VinegarTits · 19/06/2009 13:26

'I regularly do 140+ mph. No accidents/points'

well if its somewhere you can legally drive at 140, then why state not points?

Nah, I will put my hazards on and do a dance of joy

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/06/2009 13:28

hf - do you live in Germany?

SusieDerkins · 19/06/2009 13:37

Oooo, hazards! A great idea - nice touch.

tomblidad · 19/06/2009 13:46

hf128219, you're a selfish idiot,

an ex-colleague and friend of dw was killed by a driver doing over a 100 losing control and smashing through the central reservation and going into a car coming along the opposite way.

2 young children are without a father

i'm sure the driver thought that he was a brilliant driver and they could control their car at fast speeds,

i hope you're caught and your licence is revoked before an innocent member of the public is harmed

hf128219 · 19/06/2009 13:54

No need to jump down my throat and make such assumptions. Thank you very much.

MachuPicchu · 19/06/2009 13:56

hf128219 are you the Stig?

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/06/2009 13:59

hf you sound like my mum . Ending statements with 'thank you very much'. Have you got your arms folded and a cats bum mouth as well!
